When it comes to spring cleaning and entertaining, Dorinda Medley knows her stuff!
Through her partnership with Clorox, she's spilling all the tea (and cleaning it up, of course) about tackling mysterious messes around the house, as well as the big chore of spring cleaning and getting ready for entertaining.
'Real Housewives Of New York' Alum Dorinda Medley Is Ready For A 'Reset'
It's spring cleaning time! While it's a chore some hate, others love it.
Medley, known for hosting unforgettable events on "RHONY," has teamed up with Clorox to share her tips for conquering party messes, before, during, and after the event.
The reality star's stunning Berkshires estate, Blue Stone Manor, where she throws multiple exciting functions each year, isn't immune to the occasional spill or splatter during an iconic get-together. Medley's expertise in entertaining and getting everything back to sparkling clean after an event attracted her to partnering with Clorox.
"It’s the perfect partnership for someone like me with Blue Stone Manor and all the entertaining I’ve done and all the entertaining you see me do with the girls who create their fair share of messes," Medley told The Blast exclusively.
“When I heard about partnering with Clorox I thought, how could this be better because I entertain a ton and I have had the girls up at the house a ton, and I think it was a real natural fit. I’m always talking about how I keep my home clean and how I entertain, how I host. And as we all know, after everything we went through in the last three or four years, cleaning and keeping things bacteria-free, virus-free, spill-free, mess-free has become more important than ever.”
Medley said she uses all of Clorox's products, wipes, mist, bleach, stain removers, and toilet bombs, when getting Blue Stone Manor sparkling clean before and after a party.
Dorinda Medley Did A Deep Clean Before Moving Into Her NYC Apartment
The reality star swears by spring cleaning and said it's important for that "reset." Before she moved into her NYC apartment, she cleaned everything from floor to ceiling.
"I always think, whenever you move into a place, you open up a house, you entertain, seasonally it’s so important to reset," she said. "It’s so important to do that spring cleaning. It kind of makes the house feel fresh and ready."
One thing Medley does more often than just during spring cleaning is fully cleaning out the refrigerator, closets, and shelves.
"I do a full cleanout of my refrigerator four times a year," she said. "I have everything taken out of the shelves, and even my closet, because when you are able to do a reset, clean up the dust, clean up whatever, it just mentally gives you a refresh. I think it’s always great to have a reset."
Throwing A Party? Dorinda Medley Has Tips To Make The Event Feel Magical
Every "RHONY" fan knows that throwing a good soiree is Medley's cup of tea. One thing she's learned over the years is that prepping is key and guests should feel like everything happened "magically."
"By the time you open the doors to your guests, 90 percent of it should be done. You always have to have good food, good music, and make sure people feel comfortable. You never want to open up the door to an event and feel frenzied. It should be like a symphony," she told The Blast. "Your visitors should feel like the whole thing happened magically. People don't want to come up and feel like they're part of the chaos."
Another key to prepping for a big event is to not go over the top crazy about the food.
"Keep it simple. Serve it buffet style so people can come in and out and serve themselves," she said.
"People just want to be together and they want to feel like you’re happy to have them in your home. It should be an escape for them. Walk into the doors of Blue Stone Manor and you've walked into an experience.”
Dorinda Medley Has Many Memorable Moments From 'RHONY'
While it's not easy to pinpoint just one favorite moment from her time on "RHONY," Medley had a few instantly come to mind.
"There are so many. I think one of my favorite scenes was my scene with Carol when we went to London and both realized we had that bond together about our husbands. But my favorite part of filming was always going up to Blue Stone Manor when I would decorate like crazy. I miss that. I always decorated so it wasn’t for the show, but it was the first time it was showcased," she shared.
“I always love that time for those three months when we were all together filming, even when it was hard, even when we were going through it. We had such a bond that we knew we were gonna get through it and we knew we were gonna make a great show. We were really authentic as a group.”
Dorinda Medley Is Dating With 'Enthusiasm' And 'Hesitation'
Medley is back in the dating scene!
The reality star was married twice, and has one daughter, Hannah, with her first husband Ralph Lynch. Her second marriage was to Richard Medley from 2005 until his passing in 2011.
As she currently finds herself dating again, she goes into it with some "enthusiasm" and a little bit of "hesitation."
"I do it with enthusiasm and hesitation combined," she told The Blast. "I always think, you might meet a nice person."
She also added that there is "hopefulness" involved, too.
Recently, Medley had a moment that made her think she's "still got it."
While on a flight from Miami, the man next to her struck up a conversation. When she told him she has a 30-year-old daughter, he said, "I thought you were 45. I was gonna ask you out."
"I'm out of the swing of it. I didn't realize he was talking to me like I was a potential date," she said. "I got off the plane thinking, 'You still got it, Dorinda.'"
