Sacha Baron Cohen Fires Back Against Rebel Wilson's 'Demonstrably False Claims'

Sacha Baron Cohen has fired back at Rebel Wilson for alleging that he was a "massive a—hole" towards her. 

In a statement issued via a spokesperson, the famed Hollywood actor dismissed Wilson's claims as false, asserting that he has proof that contradicts the actress' words.

Baron Cohen has spoken out for himself amid the controversy that supposedly stemmed from his and Wilson's encounter when they worked on the 2016 film, "The Brothers Grimsby." 

Following the Australian actress' revelation that she penned a chapter in her upcoming memoir, "Rebel Rising," depicting the 52-year-old as a "massive a—hole," his representative shared in a statement:

"While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of ‘The Brothers Grimsby.'"

While this is the comedian's first public appearance on the issue, Wilson previously discussed it in a radio interview during her film promotion.

According to Us Weekly, in an extract of the 2014 conversation, which has since resurfaced, the "Pitch Perfect" star is heard saying:

"Sacha is so outrageous. Every day he’s like, 'Just go naked, it will be funny.' And I’m, like, 'No!' 'Sacha and I have the same agent in America and I'm like, 'Sacha, I'm going to call our agent Sharon and tell her how much you are harassing me.'"

Just hours ago, The Blast reported that Wilson had taken to her Instagram Story with a direct message at Cohen, airing his alleged attempts to silence her memoir.  

"I will not be bullied or silenced by high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers. The 'a—hole' that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen," she penned against the backdrop of a purple pen and a book.

The update seemed similar to the one the 44-year-old dropped via her Stories just days ago, writing, "I wrote about an a—hole in my book. Now, said a—hole is trying to threaten me. He's hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers."

She remarked that despite the individual's efforts to hinder publicity about her book, the pages would still be released, unveiling the truth to the public.

In her initial post about airing the dirty laundry of the "a—hole," Wilson told her 11.1 million Instagram followers: 

"When I first arrived in Hollywood, people would say, 'Yeah, I have a no-a**holes policy, meaning I don't work with a--holes.' I thought, 'Yeah, that sounds sensible, logical.'"

The significance of those words soon became apparent to the Teen Choice Awards winner, who confessed, "I worked with a massive a--hole." That experience promptly led her to adopt the same policy. 

"The chapter on said a—hole is chapter 23. That guy was a massive a—hole," she concluded in the March 15 video which came with this emphatic caption:

"Do you wanna know why I have a "no a—holes" policy now with people I work with? ...Well it's all in the book: REBEL RISING available for pre-order now (drops April 2nd, link in bio)...oh and YES I name the a—hole!"

The Instagram post did not go without her fans chipping in their two cents in the comment section. "Love it when someone actually names names..... and doesn't keep us guessing!" one person effused. 

A second individual asserted, "It's a great policy, name & shame them.... love it!! Looking forward to reading your book. Go GIRL POWER," as a third reiterated, "Yeah, time to name names. They do when it's women." 

Meanwhile, others were focused on guessing who Wilson was referring to, with one social media user speculating it was Tom Cruise and another lightheartedly proposing Chris Hemsworth.

In addition to spilling the beans on her drama with Cohen, The Hollywood Reporter disclosed that "Rebel Rising" will also detail Wilson's "unconventional journey" to achieving success in Hollywood. 

The Australian Theatre for Young People graduate's personal life also served as inspiration for the upcoming book, as she came out after falling in love with a woman, grappling with weight and fertility challenges, and embracing motherhood with the aid of a surrogate. 

When addressing fans' expectations about the tome, Wilson stated:

"This book is like me sitting down telling my deepest, darkest secrets to a friend with some laughs along the way of course. So when it's released, 'my friend' will become you."
