Angela Bassett, known for her roles on '9-1-1' and 'Black Panther', is speaking out, revealing she "might have to go to therapy" soon.

The 65-year-old actress stepped out on the red carpet for the season 7 premiere of the drama television series '9-1-1' in Los Angeles where she opened up about her personal life and how her kids recently turned 18.

Angela Bassett's kids are going off to college, and the actress is having some trouble coping with the thought.

"Oh I'm feeling very sad about it," she told ET on the red carpet. "I'm excited for them, I'm sad for me."

Her son Slater and daughter Bronwyn are touring colleges to find the right fit for them, which is when it sunk in for Bassett.

"I might have to go to therapy," she said. "Just do a little bit."

One of the top schools in Bassett's mind is Yale School of Drama -- the college where she met her husband, Courtney B. Vance, however, she says she is trying not to push too hard as she wants her children to make the final decision on their own.

"I'm pushing it but not too loudly," Bassett told the outlet. "I'm pushing it by keeping my mouth closed for now."

As you know, the 65-year-old actress was nominated at the 2023 Oscars for her role as Queen Ramonda in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.' She had some tough competition, including Jamie Lee Curtis, who was up for the award for her performance in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' -- and won.

“I was gobsmacked,” Bassett told Oprah of her loss, “I thought I handled it very well, and that was my intention: to handle it very well," however, fans said otherwise as her reaction went viral. Social media even penned her reaction as “Angela Bassett face."

“It was, of course, a supreme disappointment, and disappointment is human, so … yes, I was disappointed," Bassett admitted, "and I handled it like a human being.”

Despite the backlash, Oprah Winfrey praised the 'Black Panther' actress for “still as gracious as a queen would be” in that disappointing moment.

To which Bassett told the host, “Absolutely. For myself and for my children, who were there with me, yes."

"I know a pastor who says, ‘Technology is different — people are the same.’ There are going to be these moments of disappointment that they are going to experience," she continued, "But how do you handle yourself in the midst of them? We’re going to smile, we’re going to be gracious, we’re going to be kind, we’re going to party, anyway.“

Courtney B. Vance, who has been married to Angela Bassett since 1997, spoke told PEOPLE about reliving the 2023 Oscar loss after this year's Academy Awards ceremony.

When asked on the success the couple had this year, Vanca said "We look at it and we're the same people when they like us, when they want us and when they don't. So we just keep moving."

Adding, "Eventually the world comes around to you and then one minute you're hot, one minute you're a little tepid, but you're still you. So we really try not to let it faze us."

After Bassett's loss to Curtis, her husband said "It hurt her feelings," but the two "decided to party like it was 1999 that night and they weren't going to run us home."

"So we ended up at Beyoncé and Jay-Z's party and life goes on. They gave her an honorary Oscar, which is wonderful," he said, adding, "So we keep it pushing."

Perhaps Bassett will be up for an Oscar next year as she's already made appearances in two 2024 movies so far.
