Steph Curry Says He May Run For President Of The United States

NBA star Steph Curry could become the future President of the United States, as he admits to having an interest in politics.

Curry is currently promoting his new book, “I Am Extraordinary," which focuses on helping kids find their inner confidence. The Golden State Warriors point guard has a passion of influencing the world and being a role model for the younger generation, so once his basketball days are over, he says he would love to go into politics to try and make a change.

Off the court, the NBA star has invested his time to inspire the next generation, especially since he is a father to three kids Riley, 11, and Ryan, 8, Canon, 5, whom he shares with wife, Ayesha Curry. The two are currently expecting their fourth child.

“You see Steph’s jersey in every arena, so you know that he’s inspiring a whole generation of young kids because they can relate to him,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said in 2018. “What he does on the floor is so amazing that I think tons and tons of kids out there just gravitate toward him, and just try to play like him.”

Curry is also known for hosting an annual basketball camp for high school basketball athletes in downtown San Francisco, CA.

When speaking to CBS Mornings to promote his new book, Steph Curry said that becoming President one day is a "maybe" in his books.

"I have an interest in leveraging every part of my influence for good in the way that I can so if that's the way to do it," the NBA star said. "If politics is a way that you to create meaningful change, or if there's another way outside of politics that we can do," he continued on how he wants to influence the world and the next generation.

When CBS Mornings’ Jericka Duncan suggested Steph Curry run for the 2028 Presidential election, he laughed and clarified "not that soon."

Steph Curry released his second children's book, which tells the story of a girl with auditory impairment who dreams of playing for her school’s soccer team, but her self-consciousness about her hearing aids holds her back.

The synopsis of the book, per Penguin Random House, reads, “With the help of and perspectives from new friends, what begins as a bumpy, anxiety-filled start for Zoe, soon transitions into an eye-opening experience about what it means to be different—and what it means to be extraordinary."

"[I'm] trying to create amazing storytelling for kids that can inspire confidence and embrace how unique they are," Curry said of his books.

One way the NBA star is helping the next generation is by hosting an annual basketball camp for high school athletes, which he started as "a way to continue to impact the next greatest high school athletes."

"When I was in college, I got invited to Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, and Paul Pierce’s camps, and I got a little bit of access to the three of them," Curry told Essence of the camp. "When I got to this level, the opportunity to have my own camp was pretty special, to invite the next greatest kids that I knew were going to be trying to play professional basketball at some point and give them a little bit of what I know."

Adding, "It’s been exciting to see it grow over the last seven years, to now have Azzi here with the 26 athletes, and we’re giving them not just the basketball skill set, but some perspective outside of the court. It’s been awesome, so hopefully it will continue for a very long time."
