Patrick Mahomes Hosts Private Dinner For Team Following Deadly Shooting

Following the Kansas City mass shooting, which left one dead and many others injured, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes attended a pre-planned private dinner.
On Wednesday, chaos ensued after gunshots were fired at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade. Following the shooting, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said that all Chiefs players were accounted for, many of whom released statements after they were brought to safety.
Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, and Travis Kelce, the Chiefs tight end, both took to social media to comment on the tragic event.
Hours after the shooting, many Chiefs players gathered together for a private dinner.
Kansas City Chiefs Players Attend Private Dinner Following Mass Shooting
According to reports, Super Bowl LVIII MVP Patrick Mahomes hosted a private get-together for his teammates at the Granfalloon Restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri.
The owner of Granfalloon confirmed that a “few” Chiefs players attended the dinner, but did not release any other details surrounding the private event.
While it is unclear what was discussed at the private dinner, we know that many Chiefs players are heartbroken over the tragedy, as many released statements shortly after the shooting took place.
The Kansas City Chiefs released the following statement:
“We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City. We are in close communication with the Mayor’s office as well as the Kansas City Police Department.
At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff, and their families are safe and accounted for. We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”
Patrick Mahomes And Chiefs Players Release Statements Following Mass Shooting
The tragedy, which left one individual dead and 22 others injured, including young children, occurred during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade on Wednesday. Following the tragedy, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took to X to share “Praying for Kansas City.”
Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, also posted on social media. “Shooting is never the answer,” she wrote. “Praying for Kansas City & America in general, this is rough.”
As Travis Kelce said, “I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me."
Linebacker Drue Tranquil was the first to release a statement on the shooting. “Please join me in prayer for all the victims in this heinous act. Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing.”
Trey Smith said, “My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by today’s incidents. A huge thank you to the first responders who ran towards the sound of danger. You’re the ones who should be celebrated today.”
Wide receiver Marquez Valdez-Scantling wants to help the victims of the mass shooting as he asked his followers, “Any chance anyone can help me get in touch with these kids or families? First off, I want to make sure they’re doing ok, but would love to help them out any way I can and get them some stuff from the team to help with the recovery.”
Authorities have ruled out terrorism as a motive for the shooting.
