A new angle has emerged concerning the perceived mass shooting that resulted in one fatality and 22 injuries during the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl parade.

According to authorities, the disruption and terror at the event seemed to have originated from a dispute among multiple individuals, not an act of terrorism.

Authorities Dismiss Kansas City Chiefs Parade Incident Being An Act Of 'Terrorism'

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves confirmed on Thursday that the total number of victims in the shooting incident is 23, including the woman who tragically lost her life.

Graves added that among the 22 people injured, ages ranged from eight to 47 years old, with half of the injured being under the age of 16. She shared that the unfortunate incident occurred amid what "appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire."

Graves also revealed during a press conference that while authorities were "working to determine the involvement of others," three individuals, including two minors, were in custody regarding the shooting.

Additionally, she mentioned, "It should be noted we have recovered several firearms. This incident is still a very active investigation."

It is worth pointing out that investigators are urging witnesses, individuals with cellphone footage, and victims of the violence to reach out to a dedicated hotline. 

Per ESPN, the shooting outside Union Station happened despite the heavy presence of over 800 law enforcement officers, some stationed within the building and nearby.

Mayor Quinton Lucas, who attended the event alongside his wife and mother, was part of the people who ran for safety when the shots were fired on Wednesday.

Despite the incident, the politician stated that he does not anticipate canceling the upcoming St. Patrick's Day parade. In his words, "We have parades all the time. I don't think they'll end. Certainly, we recognized the public safety challenges and issues that relate to them."

Meanwhile, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, known as the host of "Taste of Tejano," was identified on Wednesday by radio station KKFI-FM as the fatality of the shooting. 

Referred to by her DJ name "Lisa G," she was described as a dedicated mother of two, hailing from a prominent Latino family in the area. Sources close to the situation divulged that the DJ was shot in the chest and died during surgery.

Chiefs Players Conveyed Their Heartbreak At The Unexpected Shooting

Since the shooting happened, several Chiefs players have shared their reactions online, with Patrick Mahomes expressing via X, "Praying for Kansas City."

Mahomes' wife, Brittany, followed her husband's footsteps with a message condemning violence. She added, "Praying for Kansas City & America in general, this is rough."

Drue Tranquill, another Chiefs star, shared a tribute, urging others to join him in prayer for the victims of the "heinous act."

"Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing," the linebacker wrote.

Similarly, Travis Kelce highlighted his condolences and solidarity with the shooting's victims in the aftermath of the Valentine's Day incident. Taking to X, he penned:

"I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me."

The sincere statement earned him over 280k likes and numerous commendations from fans, with one lengthily replying:

"Thank you, Travis. No one in a million years thought something like this would occur. You guys were bringing joy to the fans and the children……..they love you guys……as we all do. Prayers of healing for the injured and comfort for the family of the deceased."

In contrast, other X users wanted the tight end to do more than share his heartbreak on social media. As one user urged, "Travis, please use your massive platform and voice to call for gun safety laws to be put into place so we can avoid future tragedies."
