Lowry, 31, along with her partner Elijah Scott, recently opened up about their twins' NICU journey during an episode of her "Barely Famous" podcast and shared a clip with a photo of the twins on Instagram. See post here.

Her twins, a boy and a girl, were born prematurely at 35 weeks and spent their first few weeks of life in the NICU. And while Lowry isn't new to the NICU because her fifth child, Rio, 1, spent a few days there, this time around was different.

"It's really scary. It's really scary, too, because we had to experience the NICU with Rio for a few days, and he was big, like he was 9 pounds. So that was different for us, but he did get to go home shortly thereafter," she said. "But for the twins, it was like, they were a lot smaller, they were five weeks early, and there were two of them, so it was really scary."

Lowry also explained that she didn't get to hold her new babies for an entire day after their births. She described the NICU as an "emotional roller coaster" that no one is really ready for.

"It was emotional for Rio because him being 9 pounds it was like, why is he here? I never experienced it," she continued. "But with the twins, it was like, they weren't just there for a couple days. We went through the journey for weeks and you learn so much about the families that are in the NICU. Some of them are there for months and months."

Lowry explained that she was frustrated that while in the NICU, the doctors kept telling her that what the twins were there for "can be normal" rather than to say, "we see this a lot." She also talked about her daughter's feeding issues.

"I had never seen a baby in my life not wake up to eat. Or like, want, or show signs of hunger. She would just sleep through feedings. She never had any feeding cues and then when I tried to feed her, she would not take a bottle," she explained. "And that was really difficult because I'm looking at him [her son] and I'm seeing he's in the NICU for some of the same reason, but also he's taking a bottle, he's having no issue with that."

Lowry's twins' birth was her first C-section and while she said she cried a lot during her C-section, she cried more in the NICU. Once her son was discharged from the NICU, things were still rough with their daughter still in the hospital. That brought on new challenges for the couple.

"We had to travel back and forth, at least once a day, one of us," Scott said. Lowry added, "It was an hour drive there and back and when I was there, I was there for hours. And then we have six other kids, because once he was discharged from the NICU, we had him at home."

In addition to the newborn twins, Lowry and Scott are also parents to Rio, 1. Lowry is also mom to Isaac, 14, with ex Jo Rivera, Lincoln, 10, with ex Javi Marroquin, Lux, 6, and Creed, 3, with ex Chris Lopez.

Scott also joined Lowry on the podcast episode that she shared her birth story with listeners. The mom of 7 never had a C-section with any of her births until the twins and shared what that was like for her.

Going into the operating room to prep for her C-section, she said, "I don't like this" and began crying. She said that she had a rough time after receiving medication and was throwing up during the procedure.

"I thought I was having a hard time breathing. I was very concerned about if I was breathing or not," she explained. "You can't feel yourself throwing up. It's such a weird phenomenon to throw up and not be able to feel any of it."

The "Teen Mom" alum said that as they were taking the twins out, she didn't feel any "tugging, pushing, or pulling." After the babies were born, she doesn't remember too much of what was going on, but was able to go nose-to-nose with her son before he was taken to the NICU. She wasn't able to do that with her daughter, but she was able to see her briefly before she went to the NICU.

Lowry also announced that she's now done having children since she had a tubal ligation after the twins' birth.

"So I got a tubal, they cut my tubes out. When I was signing the paperwork for the tubes, they were like you could have, they went over all the side effects, and in the side effects they include regret," she said during her podcast. "I was like, oh, seven kids, I would never regret this. I would be lying if I said I didn't have thoughts, very quick glimmer of thoughts."

Ultimately, she said she doesn't regret her decision because, "seven kids is crazy."
