Ask any single person who's on a dating app and they'll likely tell you it's been anything but fun. Our guess is that Barrymore would say pretty much the same thing after she revealed a recent experience briefly talking to a man on a dating app.

"Here's a story. Ready for this one?" Barrymore recently said on an episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show." "So this guy on my dating app said he was the quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams."

Barrymore continued her story explaining that she wrote to this man explaining how she went to their first practice game and said it's "so frustrating being a girl from Los Angeles who loves football" but didn't have any teams and then moved to New York and now there's two teams.

Then she dropped a bomb that people on dating apps are sadly used to dealing with - a blatant lie.

"He was not the quarterback for the L.A. Rams," she said. "He's a musician that thought he was being cute."

When Barrymore asked co-host Ross Matthews how she should feel about such deceit, he responded, "You should feel lied to, robbed."

"And then the guy was like, 'Hey, Drewski,'" she continued. "And I was like, 'I hate you. You pithy, deceiving, playful, you've made me feel stupid. I don't know who you are. I feel so dumb. Why did we have to get off on this foot? I hate you.'"

The Struggle Is Real For So Many!

Barrymore shared a clip from her dating app chat on Instagram and TikTok and the comment section more than proves that Barrymore is super relatable and way too many people can relate to her dating app struggle.

"And this is why I am single," one person wrote in the comment section on TikTok. "I feel so validated. Dating at our age (I’m dating, well, thinking about it, after a recent divorce) is soooooo hard!!!" said another.

Another viewer added, "Welcome to my world. Which is why I have been out of the dating scene now for 3 years and happy."

Many others left comments about how terrible dating is now, that no one is safe from the online dating insanity, including Barrymore, and other comments about Barrymore's story being relatable.

Over on Instagram, the vibe is the same.

"When Drew can't even get a date with normal guys we know that it is truly the end," one person wrote. Another added, "Lmaooo. Dating in 2024. Technology has ruined it!!!"

Do We All Collectively Feel Dating Apps Are Painful?

Everyone I've talked to about dating or dating apps in general seems to agree - it's the WORST. I was on and off dating apps for a few years and about a year ago decided no more.

Barrymore said, "Every time I get on there it does not feel great. I always last five days," and I could relate to this with every fiber of my being. It doesn't feel good. It makes you question in ways you never thought you would. And I'm with Barrymore, I never last on there too long before I think it's just not worth it and delete it.

The swiping culture has really changed how people date, as well as how people treat relationships. In a world that's filled with instant gratification, the mentality for many has shifted to just wanting to find the here and now rather than something meaningful and long term.

What I've found to be the biggest issues on dating apps is communication as a whole. It's super frustrating to match with someone and the conversation starts out with just "Hey" or "What's up?" and never grows from there. Or there are the times that you match with someone and a single conversation never even happens.

My favorite is when you're on the app and then delete it and then six months later go back on it and all the same people are still there just lingering. And then there's the people you talked to six months ago and didn't have a connection with swipe on you again like they don't even remember talking to you.

If you think you're alone in this, just go on TikTok and search for dating app videos. You may not even have to do an actual search because there are so many just floating around everyone's FYP feed.
