The Prince of Wales is taking his role as a husband seriously amid his wife Kate Middleton's recent hospitalization and successful abdominal surgery for a non-cancerous issue.
According to ET, William has canceled several commitments to be by her side as she recovers from the medical operation.
Kensington Palace also released a statement confirming the surgery's success and the expected recovery period of the Duchess of Cambridge.
The statement read: "The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."
Kate Middleton ‘Appreciates Public Interest’ But Wants To Maintain ‘Normalcy’ For Her Children
In the statement, the palace also noted that Kate "appreciates the interest" of the public, but "she hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible and her wish that her personal medical information remains private."
Expressing a wish for her personal medical details to remain private, the palace will only disclose “significant” information about the princess’s condition.
In the statement, Princess Kate also apologized for the postponement of her upcoming engagements: "The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
Kate, who shares three children with William, previously faced hyperemesis gravidarum - a condition that causes severe vomiting during pregnancies, but it's unclear if it's related to her recent surgery.
King Charles Hospitalized For Enlarged Prostate
Kate is not the only senior Royal presently faced with a medical issue. According to Buckingham Palace, King Charles III will soon be undergoing treatment for an "enlarged prostate."
The statement clarified that the 75-year-old monarch’s condition is "benign," and he is scheduled for a "corrective procedure" next week.
It read: "In common with thousands of men each year, the king has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate. His Majesty's condition is benign, and he will attend the hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The king’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation."
Regarding his upcoming schedule, a royal source informed ET that “His Majesty had a series of meetings and events planned at Dumfries House tomorrow and Friday, which are now being postponed on doctor’s advice.”
“Guests, including foreign dignitaries and members of the Cabinet, were due to travel, and so they needed to make people aware of the situation,” the source added.
