A month before the first anniversary of his release from the ICU, Renner got fans talking about his resemblance to a famous Marvel character. The actor got assistance for his first flight after his snow plow accident, walking smartly with compression devices strapped to his calves.

He was spotted attempting to board a flight at JFK Airport on December 6 in incognito mode with an all-black ensemble and a baseball cap. Despite his efforts to blend in with the other travelers, the "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" actor's famous features stood out alongside the robot-like devices on his legs.

The compression devices sparked a resemblance to Don Cheadle's James Rhodes character in the Marvel Franchise. The life-imitating-art moment was similar to when the fictional figure, aka the War Machine, regained the ability to walk after Tony Stark created leg braces based on the exoskeleton mechanics of his Iron Man suit.

While Renner's walking aid did not have the same fancy design, his compression devices served a similar purpose. These gadgets supported movements by improving blood flow, reducing pain, and combating swelling.
