A judge has approved the settlement between Burton and his now ex-wife, allowing them to share joint legal and physical custody of their two minor children, Brooklyn and Jack.

In the agreement, the "Days of Our Lives" actor has an obligation to provide Gustin with $12,500 per month in child support for the kids until April 2024. The child support amounts are $10,000 for nine-year-old Brooklyn and $2,500 for 17-year-old Jack.

After April, the monthly payment is reduced to $10,000 — a sum dedicated solely to Brooklyn until she reaches the age of 18. In other words, Burton's child support obligations for Jack will cease when he turns 18 at the end of March.

Although the parents of three waived their rights to spousal support irrespective of any "unforeseen circumstances," there is an agreement for Burton to pay Gustin $50,000 in retroactive support. The payment will be made in installments of $2,500 per month, as per recently acquired legal documents reported by TMZ.

The outlet was the first to report that the "General Hospital" alum filed for divorce in July 2022, ending his 23-year marriage. This came just two months after he asserted that Gustin was expecting a baby that did not belong to him.

Steve Burton & Sheree Gustin's Relationship

According to PEOPLE, Burton and Gustin tied the knot in January 1999 after meeting on the set of "General Hospital." Their first child, daughter Makena, was born in September 2003.

Almost three years after the birth of their firstborn, the now-exes welcomed their son Jack in March 2006 followed by the arrival of their third child, daughter Brooklyn, in July 2020.

While marking their 22nd anniversary in January 2021, Gustin posted a heartfelt tribute to her former man. She stated in the since-deleted post, "You had me at hello... It's been a wild and crazy ride @1steveburton. AND He still manages to make me laugh almost every single day. #22years."

Things reportedly went downhill after the actor was dismissed from his role as Jason Morgan on "General Hospital" in November 2021 due to non-compliance with the production's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. At the time, an informant mentioned that the then-lovebirds experienced significant changes in their lives during this upheaval, leading to "chaos" in Burton's life.

The insider revealed that leading up to the split, Gustin had become "unhappy" and was on the lookout for "something more." They added, "Their lives have been in the coasting stage for a while. After a long marriage, it's not that unusual."

Gustin Publicly Ignored Her Ex-Husband's Claims Regarding Her Fourth Pregnancy

Amid all of that, Gustin hinted at expecting a fourth child by sharing a selfie showcasing her baby bump via her Instagram Story in May 2022. The fitness instructor wrote across the image, "Life sure is full of surprises!" Shortly after, Burton shared his own update on his Instagram Story, penning:

"I wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced that she's expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve."

Regardless of his announcement, the previously mentioned source declared that "The Young and the Restless" star and his ex-wife are committed to safeguarding the well-being of their kids while maintaining a sense of normalcy as they move forward.

It is worth noting that Gustin chose not to publicly address their divorce or Burton's claims about her pregnancy, which ended in February when she welcomed daughter Izabella. In fact, weeks after the birth, the mother of four shared a message about her priorities on social media.

"Some things I've realized with having my 4th baby in my 40s. I know how fast it goes by. I don't sweat the small stuff, and I do my best to be present with all my children and live in the moment. I know I'm far from perfect but my kids know they're loved and ultimately that's really all that matters," Gustin penned.
