'Jeopardy!' producer Sarah Foss is addressing the Matthew Perryclue that aired following the 'Friends' actor's death.

During the Celebrity Tell-All category on the December 6 episode of season 2 of "Celebrity Jeopardy!," a clue read:  “'Friends, lovers, and the big terrible thing': He revealed that future editions of his memoir will not include Keanu Reeves.” The answer: Who Is Matthew Perry?

Fans of the show found the “future editions” portion of the clue to be insensitive, considering Perry had tragically passed away a few weeks before the show aired.

Producer Sarah Foss revealed that the episode of the show was filmed on October 11, which was before Perry unexpectedly passed on October 28.

“One note on this celebrity game is that you can't anticipate that things are going to be happening," Foss explained, adding, "And of course, we tape our shows well in advance.”

She continued, “In the category: 'Celebrity Tell Alls,' we did have a clue about Matthew Perry, so we decided we wanted to indicate on the screen, it had been previously recorded before his passing; a clue about his memoir."

In October, police responded to a 911 call to assist with a possible “water rescue” at Matthew Perry’s Pacific Palisades home. When they arrived, they found the 54-year-old “Friends” actor in the heated section of his pool, face down, unresponsive.

According to the autopsy report, obtained by The Blast, “drowning contributes due to the likelihood of submersion into the pool as he lapsed into unconsciousness; coronary artery disease contributes due to exacerbation of ketamine-induced myocardial effects on the heart. Buprenorphine effects are listed as contributory, even though not at toxic levels, due to the additive respiratory effects when present with high levels of ketamine.”

According to the newly released autopsy report, Ketamine was found in Matthew Perry‘s system, which ultimately caused his death.

The actor was utilizing Ketamine therapy at the time of his death for anxiety and depression, but his last known treatment overseen by a medical professional was over one week before he passed; meaning the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy since ketamine’s half-life is three to four hours

Matthew Perry‘s ex-girlfriend, Kayti Edwards, is also calling for an investigation into the doctors who were treating Perry, claiming the actor may have obtained the drug found in his system from a medical professional rather than off the streets.

Matthew Perry spoke out about how ketamine, the drug that ultimately killed him, was a “giant exhale” and made him feel as if he were “dying.”

In his 2022 memoir, the “Friends” actor discussed how he was going through ketamine therapy and how “ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980s,” but, “there is a synthetic form of it now, and it’s used for two reasons: to ease pain and help with depression.”

He added that ketamine “has my name written all over it — they might as well have called it ‘Matty’.”

The drug can be used in Ketamine therapy, which is a treatment used by many celebrities (including Perry) to manage mental health conditions, such as treatment-resistant depression, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
