Fans Are Fuming After Matthew Perry's Cause Of Death Revealed

After an autopsy revealed Matthew Perrydied from acute effects of the drug Ketamine, fans of the "Friends" actor flooded social media, reacting to the news.

According to the report obtained by The Blast, The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner (DME) determined the cause of death for 54-year-old actor Matthew Langford Perry as the acute effects of Ketamine.

The manner of death was ruled an accident.

After the news broke that Matthew Perry's cause of death was revealed, fans of the actor took to social media to voice their frustrations about the topic.

"I hate this Matthew Perry 'cause of death' hype. All anyone (not related to him) needs to know: A beloved actor passed. He fought his demons the best he could, forever. Be thankful you’re alive and able to make better choices. Like not shaming a man for trying his best," one fan wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

"If Matthew Perry is gonna be trending, it should be with these words. A very cool and talented dude who helped a lot of people," another wrote, sharing a screenshot of a section from Perry's memoir.

While promoting his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” the 54-year-old actor spoke out on how he wanted to be remembered whenever the time. “[I want to be remembered] as a guy who lived life, loved well, lived well, and helped people. That running into me was a good thing and not something bad.”

While another fan simply expressed, "[I] just hope that Matthew Perry has found peace, and that his loved ones are doing ok."

As one fan voiced, "Addiction is a lifelong battle. I know he is resting in peace now. People will go get help because he left a legacy of breadcrumbs guiding us to recovery resources and stories like our own."

They concluded by saying, "Thanks for the laughs, Matty."

This is by far the first time fans have spoken out about Matthew Perry's death. Just days after fans heard the news of Perry’s unexpected death, they gathered together in front of the apartment building from the show in NYC, leaving flowers, shirts, notes, and other memorabilia to pay respect to the late actor.

One fan left a note at the site of the NYC "Friends" apartment that read, “'Friends' was the answer and solution to my anxiety before I even had a word for that feeling. All I know is that whenever I had a […] feelings, I could pop in a VHS box set (IYKYK) for a given reason in the VCR and not just feel okay, but even laugh.”

The note continued, “Thank you, Matty, for making me feel peace and joy, from middle school to my mid-30s, even when you didn’t know your impact is immeasurable.”

“You were and will always be a friend to so many strangers who grew up and relied on you,” the fan wrote. “Thank you for being true to us.”
