Britney Spears’ Dad Jamie Spears Had His Leg Amputated After Infection

Singer Britney Spears is rethinking her relationship with her father, Jamie Spears, after years of estrangement.
The 42-year-old pop star was subject to a 13-year conservatorship from February 2008 to November 2021. During that time, her personal and financial affairs were largely in control of her father. Unfortunately, her father had surgery in September due to a major infection that resulted from a knee replacement sixteen years ago.
Now, it appears that the entrepreneur actually had to have his leg amputated amid reports that Britney is looking to reconnect with her estranged family. The "Toxic" singer has been reported to be "lonely" while dealing with her divorce from actor Sam Asghari, who filed for divorce on August 16, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.
Britney Spears' Father Jamie Spears Had His Leg AMPUTATED
In September, the world learned that Jamie Spears was undergoing surgery due to an infection caused by a knee replacement that he had decades ago. However, on Tuesday morning, sources told TMZ that the 71-year-old Louisiana native had his leg amputated last month and is not doing well.
Jamie had reportedly been hospitalized for weeks due to a massive infection. After five surgeries, doctors decided that the best course of action was to amputate the leg. Sources said that Jamie is “not doing well” and hopes to reconcile with his daughter. It’s been rumored that Britney is softening toward her family as well, having just spent time with her mother and brother last weekend amid her birthday celebrations.
Jamie Spears Reportedly 'Elated' By The Possibility Of Connecting With His Daughter
On Wednesday, August 23, a source told TMZ that Jamie was "elated" by the thought of reconnecting with his daughter, who doesn't want to "regret waiting too long" to make amends after being estranged for years. The outlet reported that he had been in and out of the hospital for months and that doctors had originally believed something was wrong with his kidney before they discovered that Jamie had developed a "terrible" infection from a knee replacement sixteen years ago.
An insider also revealed that Jamie is "extremely thin" now after having lost twenty-five pounds due to his health. Even though the two are still not on speaking terms, it appears that Britney learned about his health scare from her brother, Bryan. On Tuesday, one source told Page Six that her brother has been “helping” his sister around the house. “He’s been staying over and helping her alongside a therapist,” the insider said, calling Bryan’s presence “a great thing for all of” the family.
Britney Still Has A Complicated Relationship With Mother, Sister Over Conservatorship
Unfortunately, it seems that there are still a lot of hard feelings as far as Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, are concerned. The day after the "Special Ops: Lionness" actor filed for divorce, a source told Page Six that the "Overprotected" singer is still not “on good terms with her family” despite meeting up with them earlier this summer. “Her meeting with her mom, went OK, but there’s still a lot of hurt there, so they haven’t quite reconciled,” the source said. “Britney is still very angry with Jamie Lynn, too.”
Later that day, a source told TMZ that the "Womanizer" singer was still “isolated” from her family and not speaking to them. One source told the outlet: “She has one confidant, [her manager] Cade [Hudson]. Then there’s her security team, and after that, her support system falls off a cliff.” The following day, a source agreed that her manager Cade Hudson was close to Britney amid the split, but told the Daily Mail that she had the support of her family as well.
“She is not alone at all. Britney has her sister Jamie Lynn who is in and out of LA and she also has her mom Lynne, who is expected to arrive this weekend, if she has not flown in already,” the insider divulged. “She has a support system including her agent and longtime friend [and manager] Cade [Hudson], her friends which include several of her backup dancers and her girlfriends.”
They said that the pop star also “has a team of assistants and her chef who are always around the houses. She also has other workers who are constantly there.” They went on to say, “This past week, Britney has been getting calls and texts from everyone she knows, including people she hasn’t spoken to in years.”
It looks like one of those people might be the Queen of Pop, Madonna, who reportedly has invited the Princess of Pop to join her onstage during one of her Los Angeles tour stops on her Celebration tour. If Britney decides to join her, it will be the first time that she has performed since her conservatorship ended in November 2021.
