Mark Zuckerberg Undergoes Major Surgery Amid Training For MMA Match

Tech billionaire Mark Zuckerbergtore his ACL sparring as he was training for an MMA match next year -- but it looks like that match won't be happening any time soon.

The CEO of Facebook has been taking this recent hobby much more seriously, despite the fight withElon Musk reportedly being called off.

Mark Zuckerberg suffered an ACL tear as he was sparring to train for a "competitive MMA fight early next year" -- now that match has been postponed.

The CEO of Facebook shared photos from his hospital bed post-surgery, explaining why he was in a cast.

"Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it," he wrote, adding, "Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that's delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support."

Zuckerberg first picked up training in jiu-jitsu during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020. Now, the CEO of Facebook trains in jiu-jitsu and MMA three to four times a week.

When speaking on fighting, Zuckerberg told Forbes, “When you go into a competition, you’re not fighting another person, you’re fighting yourself, right? You’re just trying to be a better version of yourself.”

“The thing that determines your destiny isn’t a competitor. It’s how you execute,” he added.

His torn ACL comes just weeks after Zuckerberg suffered two black eyes after sparring in the gym.

“Sparring got a little out of hand. May need to update my avatar ?,” the Facebook CEO captioned the post at the time. Mark Zuckerberg is okay with the injuries, however, as he stated, “Getting hit in the face doesn’t hurt that much. It just does brain damage.”

The much-anticipated fight between the CEOs of Meta (Zuckerberg) and X (Elon Musk) might not be happening as Zuckerberg recently took his new social media platform, Threads, to share that Musk is not taking it seriously. “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious, and it’s time to move on,” he wrote before adding, “I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead.”

He then stated that if the 52-year-old CEO of X gets more serious about the event that “he knows how to reach me.”

“Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously,” he added.
