Moderator Whoopi Goldberg and the rest of "The View" are finally ready to talk about Britney Spears' memoir, "The Woman In Me."
Alyssa Farah Griffin had already touched on the topic of Justin Timberlake and explained why they seemed the topic of Britney's at-home abortion too sensitive to air. However, now that the tell-all book has sold over a million copies and become a New York Times bestseller, "The View" panel is reflecting on her book and its impact.

On a recent episode of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg said that she listened to an audiobook version of Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman In Me.” She described the book as “magnificent” before praising it as “funny,” “moving,” and “just terrific.” She noted how the book portrays a different side of Britney than has been shown in headlines throughout the years, prompting agreement from the panel.
Whoopi also praised Michelle Williams’ narration of the book, describing it as “delicious.” Near the end of the conversation, she went on to talk about an experience Britney described earlier in her career, where she didn’t really care for what the audience thought of her singing and dancing, as she just wanted to perform.
“This is what we do in the media. We make judgment calls and then they stick because our words have weight. So until we walk a mile in folks’ shoes, maybe we have to be a little less judgmental,” she ventured, which got applause from the audience. “Maybe. Maybe. Or maybe not. We’re just human.”
Fans Weigh In On Whoopi Goldberg's Take
Love this! Thank you for calling out the media and their crap. Entertainment media is so te if and unhealthy.
Can’t wait to read Britney’s book.— theorganicwanderer (@ChildoftheLIE) November 3, 2023
One Britney fan who appears to be disappointed by the way the Princess of Pop has been portrayed in headlines commented, "Love this! Thank you for calling out the media and their crap. Entertainment media is so [toxic] and unhealthy. Can’t wait to read Britney’s book."
Whoops, you just condemned Ivanka and then turn right around on the Brit story and say “our words have weight” - remember that. Or at least be consistent in your messaging and maybe look in the mirror. @ABCNetwork @Disney @Robertiger it’s been a week full of hate.

However, another user noted that Whoopi should perhaps take her own advice for the way that she just called out Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, as she appeals a judge's order to testify in the New York fraud trial.

Alyssa Farah Griffin Says Justin Timberlake Deserves ‘A Little Grace’
Although the former couple's relationship was full of allegations of infidelity and an unplanned pregnancy, "The View" panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin feels that the "Cry Me A River" singer deserves "a little grace" for what happened over two decades ago. On Monday’s episode of “The View: Behind The Table” podcast, Alyssa Farah Griffin told “The View” executive producer Brian Teta that the news that Britney had an abortion at age 19 was a "gut punch."
Alyssa said that she “feels strongly that both parents [should] have a say in what happens with the child” in comments transcribed by Page Six. “I’m going to try to give them both a little grace,” she said, noting that "The View" wanted to discuss it, but noted that it was "dicey on a number of levels."
“Think of the pressure that these two young icons at that time were under,” she continued. “They had to live this myth and pretend — while playing very ‘sexified’ people in their public lives — [that] they were virgins, which as an adult now I’m like ‘of course they weren’t.'”
Alyssa Farah Griffin Talks The 'Human Side' Of Britney Spears' Story
The former White House aide went on to say, “I think it exposes like a human side of a story that, in retrospect, that totally makes sense that they went through all of those struggles,” adding, “The challenge that it presents is a tough topic to talk about in the context of reproductive health.” She also noted that the confession must have been “heartbreaking” for Britney, who wrote in her memoir that she only went through with the abortion because "Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father."
“But I do hope for her, talking about it was helpful and now you see how important having kids was to her. She’s got her kids, she had talked about wanting to have more … I could dissect how Britney was treated for hours,” Griffin said. “The pressures of being hyper-sexualized with then having to pretend you’re a virgin. They both, in different ways, went through h--- and I’m gonna try to give them both a little grace in it.”
Britney Spears’ tell-all memoir, “The Woman In Me,” was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
