Matthew Perry's Body Wasn't Waterlogged When He Was Found
According to law enforcement sources, Matthew Perry's body, which was reportedly found in his hot tub from a suspected drowning, hadn't been in the water for an extended period.
The source revealed to TMZ that when first responders arrived at Perry's Pacific Palisades residence, his body was not waterlogged, casting suspicions on his cause of death.
At the time of his death, the "Friends" star was alone at home after allegedly playing pickleball earlier in the day at Riviera Country Club. On getting home, he sent his assistant on an errand, but when the assistant returned, they found Perry unresponsive in the jacuzzi, leading to a frantic 911 call.
It is unconfirmed whether the caller was Perry's personal assistant and close friend Briana Brancato, who the actor mentioned in his memoir, "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing," last year.
Matthew Perry Praised His Personal Assistant Briana Brancato For 'Saving His Life'
Within his deeply personal memoir, published in October 2022, Perry openly shared his feelings of loneliness and his deep desire for children.
However, he opened up about a significant, years-long connection with Brancato, whom he fondly referred to under the pseudonym "Erin" – though never naming her.
According to the Daily Mail, he revealed that she was his "best friend" and "saved his life," particularly during his recovery from a life-threatening colon issue. However, the "Boys Will Be Boys" star emphasized that their "bond was never sexual."
Briana Brancato Quit Smoking Alongside The 'Friends' Star
Perry went on to shed light on his connection with "Erin," whom he initially met while attending a rehab clinic several years ago.
He detailed the time they spent together in a sober living house in Southern California, sharing, "I had a view of West LA and two queen-size beds. The other bed was occupied by Erin."
He continued: "I'd met her two years earlier, at another rehab where she had been working at the time. I didn't get sober back then, but I saw how wonderful she was in every way and promptly stole her from that sober living rehab and made her my assistant, and she became my best friend."
Perry expressed his gratitude for Erin's unwavering support in his journey to sobriety, particularly when she quit smoking alongside him.
He concluded his memoir with heartfelt words of appreciation for his "best friend," writing: "She's always there when I need her,' he wrote. 'Erin, Erin, Erin … She saved my life at the rehab when my insides exploded, and she saves it every day still. Who knows what I'd do without her; I intend to never find out."
He added, "I can tell she's itching for a cigarette, but she doesn't break the habit. Find a friend who'll quit something with you—you'll be amazed what that does for a friendship."
