A few days after her arrest, Beador's close friend, Jeff Lewis, revealed on his radio show that the reality TV star called him to say she was "ashamed" and "embarrassed" by the incident and was "accepting full accountability."

He added, "I don’t think Shannon is an alcoholic. I think as her close friend, I think she’s going through a lot of personal struggles right now, and I think that she probably has been leaning on alcohol, but I don’t believe she’s an alcoholic."

Beador's arrest came after an "RHOC" season in which she brought up her co-star Gina Kirschenheiter's DUI arrest in 2019.

During a dinner scene, Beador claimed credit for preventing Kirschenheiter from going to jail, citing her lawyer's intervention to prevent an early morning arrest.

Just days before her arrest, Beador refuted accusations from Kirschenheiter regarding her drinking habits. The 59-year-old defended herself in a joint interview with Vicki Gunvalson.

Beador criticized the "inaccurate" claims made about her alcohol consumption. She told US Weekly to "look at other people on the show this season who've been drinking a lot."

Gunvalson, 61, also weighed in, mentioning that the show encourages fun and alcohol but emphasizes the ability to control one's intake. She explained, "The show, I hate to say it, does promote having fun and some alcohol, and we can control what we put in our body."

She suggested that what gets filmed is what the viewers see, especially the fun moments, adding, "It's just when you film seven hours in a day and one [hour] of it or a half hour of it is whooping it up on a high level, that's what they're going to show because that's fun."

Adding to her challenges, Beador has been grappling with the aftermath of her breakup with John Janssen. In November, Janssen ended their three-year relationship, catching Beador off guard.

In an interview with People magazine, the Bravolebrity expressed her shock, especially since the breakup occurred just one week after they finished filming for season 17.

Reflecting on the situation, Beador revealed her profound disappointment and the stark difference between their on-camera and off-camera relationship, stating, "All I can do is repeat in my head what he said to me while we were filming. We were in a great place. But seven days later, when the cameras were down, it was a completely different story."

"He told me he was done with the relationship. And to hear what he said to me then was absolutely devastating," Beador added.

Beador spoke of her deep love for him and her hope they would spend their lives together, stating, "I've never loved anyone more in my life. I was hopeful this was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I wanted it to work out. I've never loved anyone like I've loved John. But clearly, he didn't feel the same way."
