Pop star Britney Spears dropped a bombshell revelation about her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, in her new memoir, “The Woman In Me.”
Although the relationship was full of allegations of infidelity even before the release of her memoir, fans had not expected that she would drop the news of an unplanned pregnancy.
In her memoir, the now 41-year-old pop star reflects on how she did not go to a doctor or a hospital about the pregnancy because she was worried about it getting leaked to the public. In fact, she didn't even tell her family. There is only one person she told, and that person was the one who eventually helped secure her the pills to have an at-home abortion to terminate the pregnancy.
Britney Spears Reveals The Person Who Got Her Abortion Pills Amid Secret Justin Timberlake Pregnancy
In an excerpt of her memoir shared by People magazine on Tuesday, Britney reveals that she got pregnant with Justin’s baby when they were dating.
"It was important that no one find out about the pregnancy or the abortion, which meant doing everything at home," Britney wrote. "We didn't even tell my family.”
In fact, the only person that she did tell was Felicia Culotta, her former assistant. “The only person who knew besides Justin and me was Felicia, who was always on hand to help me,” Britney explained. “I was told, 'It might hurt a little bit, but you'll be fine.'”
"On the appointed day, with only Felicia and Justin there, I took the little pills. Soon I started having excruciating cramps. I went into the bathroom and stayed there for hours, lying on the floor, sobbing and screaming."
She recalled how Justin tried to comfort her by playing the guitar while she cried on the bathroom floor. "Justin came into the bathroom and lay on the floor with me," she wrote. "At some point, he thought maybe music would help, so he got his guitar and he lay there with me strumming it."
Britney Spears Says Justin Timberlake Wasn’t Ready To Be A Father
In an excerpt of “The Woman In Me,” released by People magazine, Britney revealed that the “Mirrors” crooner “wasn’t happy” about the pregnancy. “It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote in her memoir. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
“I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she continued, adding, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
Britney Never Intended To ‘Offend’ Anyone With Her Memoir
On Friday, Britney took to social media to reveal that she didn't "like" the headlines that she was reading and clarified that she never meant to offend anyone by telling her story. “My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means !!! That was me then …that is in the past !!!” she began. “I don’t like the headlines I am reading …that’s exactly why I quit the business 4 years ago !!! Most of the book is from 20 years ago … I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here !!!”
“I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life !!!” she continued. “Either way, that is the last of it and s— happens !! This is actually a book didn’t know needed to be written … although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future !!!”
“Hopefully I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood !!! Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly !!!” she concluded. “I have moved on since then !! #TheWomaninMe.”
Britney’s tell-all memoir, “The Woman In Me,” was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
