Pop star Britney Spears shared a lot of details about her ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, in her new memoir, “The Woman In Me.”

Although the relationship was full of allegations of infidelity and an unplanned pregnancy, "The View" panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin believes that the "Cry Me A River" singer deserves "a little grace."

On Monday’s episode of “The View: Behind The Table” podcast, Alyssa Farah Griffin told “The View” executive producer Brian Teta that Justin Timberlake should be treated with more grace following the bombshell revelation that the pop star had an abortion.

The 34-year-old conservative voice said that the revelation was a “gut punch” and said that she “feels strongly that both parents [should] have a say in what happens with the child” in comments transcribed by Page Six. “I’m going to try to give them both a little grace,” she said.

“We wanted to talk about this, but it is dicey on a number of levels,” Griffin went on, explaining why they did not actually talk about Britney’s abortion on the daytime talk show.

“Think of the pressure that these two young icons at that time were under,” she continued. “They had to live this myth and pretend — while playing very ‘sexified’ people in their public lives — [that] they were virgins, which as an adult now I’m like ‘of course they weren’t.'”

“I think it exposes like a human side of a story that, in retrospect, that totally makes sense that they went through all of those struggles,” the former White House aide went on. “The challenge that it presents is a tough topic to talk about in the context of reproductive health.”

She also said that it was “heartbreaking” for Britney Spears, who noted in her memoir that she agreed to have an abortion because Justin wasn’t ready to be a father.

“But I do hope for her, talking about it was helpful and now you see how important having kids was to her. She’s got her kids, she had talked about wanting to have more … I could dissect how Britney was treated for hours,” Griffin said. “The pressures of being hyper-sexualized with then having to pretend you’re a virgin. They both, in different ways, went through hell and I’m gonna try to give them both a little grace in it.”

In an excerpt of “The Woman In Me,” released by People magazine one week ago, Britney opened up on her unplanned pregnancy. “It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote in her memoir. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”

“I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she continued, adding, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”

In another excerpt shared by People magazine on Tuesday, Britney revealed that she didn’t go to a doctor for her abortion because she was worried about the public finding out.

"It was important that no one find out about the pregnancy or the abortion, which meant doing everything at home," she wrote. "We didn't even tell my family. The only person who knew besides Justin and me was Felicia [Culotta, Spears' former assistant], who was always on hand to help me. I was told, 'It might hurt a little bit, but you'll be fine.'"

"On the appointed day, with only Felicia and Justin there, I took the little pills. Soon I started having excruciating cramps. I went into the bathroom and stayed there for hours, lying on the floor, sobbing and screaming,” she recalled.

"Justin came into the bathroom and lay on the floor with me," she added. "At some point, he thought maybe music would help, so he got his guitar and he lay there with me strumming it."

Britney’s tell-all memoir, “The Woman In Me,” was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
