Billy Porter Reveals He's 'Dating Around' After His Divorce: 'They Got To Take Care of Me'

Actor Billy Porter is dating again following his divorce from his husband of six years, Adam Smith.

During a recent interview, the Hollywood veteran revealed that he is "dating around" and needs someone who would "take care of him."

In July, Porter and Smith announced their separation, with a rep for the actor stating that "the decision was an amicable and mutual one and was made after much consideration."

"Pose" star Billy Porter is wasting no time finding a new partner, revealing that he has started dating again.

The actor, who recently separated from his partner of 6 years, Adam Smith, walked the red carpet at an event for cancer charity DKMS at Cipriani Wall Street.

While looking as fashionable as always, Porter opened up to Page Six about his dating life and plans to find a new partner.

"I'm gonna take a break for a minute. Daddy is dating around," he told the news outlet. 

The actor was then asked if he had his eyes on anyone at the charity gala, to which he replied, "I see them, don’t you think I know?... I’m not peeping nobody yet, they got to peep me. They got to take care of me, honey.”

In August, Porter, whose fiery personality and exceptional sense of fashion have made him a cultural icon, admitted that while the end of his marriage has brought about a sense of freedom, it has also brought a mix of emotions.

During a chat with the Evening Standard, he spoke about the complexity of navigating life as a single person after six years of partnership with Smith.

“The whole world knows I’m getting a divorce,” he told the publication. “Y’all want to talk about my divorce and Ricky Martin’s at the same time? We made it as far as we could but we learn, we grow and we live.”

The interview was held in London, which made Porter feel “bittersweet” as it was where he proposed to Smith. He said he was in the city for “a respite from some other s*it.”

“I’m looking forward to the next… adventure,” the actor added. “She’s back on the market, looking for an English huzzzband. And you have to spell it just like that: ‘Huzzzband.'”

Porter and Smith allegedly met at a dinner party in 2009 and briefly dated. They married in January 2017 and remained together for six years before officially separating in July.

“I can confirm that Billy Porter and his husband, Adam Smith, have made the sad decision to end their marriage after six years,” the "Cinderella" star's rep, Simon Halls, told People magazine.

“The decision was an amicable and mutual one and was made after much consideration. They continue to love and support each other as they embark on this next chapter,” Halls added.

In his interview with the Evening Standard, Porter said that he will always hold love for Smith. Despite the challenges and changes that come with divorce, the actor’s genuine statement highlighted the depth of his relationship with Smith and the importance of recognizing the positive aspects of their past together.

Porter has a new album coming out on November 17. The actor opened up to Page Six about the new project, stating that he has "broken a sweat" for it and plans on using it to expand his audience.

“I am breaking a sweat. I have broken a sweat,” Porter told the news outlet. “Because it is about expanding my audience and helping my audience know that I am not new to this. I am true to this. Many people got on the Billy Porter train at different times, but the singing was first… type it in Google and you will understand. She ain’t new with this pop music thing.”

Recalling his start in the entertainment industry, Porter said, "I met with a manager… and he said you have to choose one thing, you can’t do everything at the same time.” The actor added, “I’m grateful that I did not listen to him.”

The Emmy Award winner shared that his diverse talents have helped him survive the SAG-AFTRA strike, as he can always find work.

"I’m so multi-hyphenated that I’m blessed to always have something to do. I was working. I’m one of the lucky ones. I’m one of the blessed one, but I’m grateful that I followed my own instinct and heart.”
