Pop star Britney Spears and her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears might have gotten their very own talk show at one point!
The 41-year-old pop star has been sharing a lot of information about her family in her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” which will officially be released on Tuesday, October 24.
Britney Spears Says Jamie Lynn Spears Pitched ‘Sister Talk Show’ When She Was ‘On Lithium’
On Friday, a source told Us Weekly that Britney’s memoir talks about a time that the “Zoey 101” star tried to pitch the idea of a “sister talk show” just after she had returned from a mental health treatment facility. In the book, Britney reportedly writes that she felt like a “shell” of herself” and was “still on lithium” when her “family walked into [her] house like nothing had happened.”
In her memoir, Britney claims that she was “practically comatose” when a “chipper” Jamie Lynn made the talk show pitch. She said that her sister would often come back “loud and happy” from meetings about television shows. However, Britney noted that “every time” Jamie Lynn spoke “it was a new scheme.”
Britney Says That Jamie Lynn Was A ‘Total B---’ After Her Parents Got Divorced
Another insider told Us Weekly on Thursday that part of the book focuses on Britney’s relationship with her sister when they were both much younger. In 2002, Britney came back from tour to see her mother, Lynne Spears, dealing with the aftermath of the divorce from her father, Jamie Spears. Britney said that her sister was “a total b----” for the way she treated her mother amid the divorce.
She also noted how the “Sweet Magnolias” actress “ruled’ the home, which caused Britney to feel “betrayed” by all the ways that her younger sister had “changed” while she was on tour.
Britney Accuses Jamie Lynn Of Taking Advantage Of Her
In an emotional June 2021 court hearing, Britney accused her father and Jamie Lynn of taking advantage of her when she stepped in front of a judge to fight back against her court-ordered conservatorship. “I would honestly like to sue my family, to be totally honest with you. I also would like to be able to share my story with the world, and what they did to me, instead of it being a hush-hush secret to benefit all of them,” Britney said at the time.
Jamie Lynn then took to Instagram to assure her fans that she was doing everything that she could to support her sister. “Maybe I didn’t support her the way the public would like me to with a hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you I’ve supported my sister long before there was a hashtag. And I’ll support her long after. Note that,” she wrote, via the outlet.
“If ending the conservatorship or flying to Mars or whatever else she wants to do [will make her happy] — I support that, 100 percent,” she added. “Because I support my sister. I love my sister. Always have, always will.”
Britney Spears Accused Jamie Lynn Of Lying In Her 2022 Memoir 'Things I Should Have Said'
Britney isn’t the only one to come out with a memoir. Her mother, Lynne Spears, released her own memoir called “Through The Storm” in 2008, but fans might be more familiar with Jamie Lynn’s memoir, “Things I Should Have Said” in January 2022. During that time, Britney took to social media to ask her sister to “please, please stop with these crazy lies for the Hollywood books” and even called her sister “scum,” as previously reported by The Blast.
“I wish you would take a lie detector test so all these masses of people see you’re lying through your teeth about me !!!!” Britney wrote at the time. “I wish the almighty, Lord would could come down and show this whole world that you’re lying and making money off of me !!!!”
One insider told Us Weekly that Britney “slams” Jamie Lynn’s memoir in her own book, noting that she wants to set the record straight about what really happened between them. It's worth noting that Britney also called out her mother for things she wrote in her 2008 memoir.
Britney Spears' memoir "The Woman In Me" is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
