Pop star Britney Spears is opening up on the drugs that she used to take during her partying days.
The 41-year-old pop star’s book “The Woman In Me” was scheduled for an official release on Tuesday, October 24; however, it was distributed in Mexico one week early, leading to new bombshell revelations.
Britney Spears Reveals Her 'Drug Of Choice' Was...
In her upcoming memoir, the “Toxic” singer revealed that she used drugs during her partying days to make her feel “less depressed.” While partying with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, she revealed that she turned to the ADHD medication Adderall as her “drug of choice” after her breakup with Justin Timberlake, who she claimed cheated on her “a couple of times” during their three-year relationship.
Although the trio made a lot of headlines, Britney wrote in her memoir that “It was never as wild as the press made it out to be” as per the New York Times. Britney said that she “never had a drinking problem” and was never interested in hard drugs, but admitted to consuming a lot of Adderall.
“[It] made me high, yes, but what I found far more appealing was that it gave me a few hours of feeling less depressed,” she wrote.
Britney Reveals That Her Mother ‘Slapped’ Her ‘So Hard’ For Partying
In a quickly deleted October 2022 Instagram post, the “Womanizer” singer recalled staying up late at night partying with Paris and Lindsay. She said that her mother, Lynne Spears, slapped her after she got home around four in the morning.
“The first time I ever got slapped was the one night Paris and Lindsay dropped me off at my beach house with my babies,” she wrote via Page Six. “My mother was watching [my sons] Jayden and Preston…yes I partied till like 4 am and my mother was P---ED !!!! I walked in, she looked at me and hit me so hard that I will never forget it !!!”
Britney Spears Claims She Drank Alcohol With Her Mother In The Eighth Grade
In another excerpt from her memoir published by People magazine, Britney described how she started drinking alcohol with her mother when she was only in the eighth grade.
“For fun, starting when I was in eighth grade, my mom and I would make the two-hour drive from Kentwood to Biloxi, Mississippi, and while we were there, we would drink daiquiris. We called our cocktails ‘toddies,'” Britney wrote in her memoir.
“I loved that I was able to drink with my mom every now and then,” she said, comparing the drinking habits of her parents.
“The way we drank was nothing like how my father did it,” Britney wrote. “When he drank, he grew more depressed and shut down. We became happier, more alive, and adventurous.”
Britney Says Her Father Called Her 'Fat' During Her Conservatorship
In another excerpt from People magazine, Britney revealed that her father, Jamie Spears, called her "fat" and made critical comments about her body during her conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021. “If I thought getting criticized about my body in the press was bad, it hurt even more from my own father,” she wrote. “He repeatedly told me I looked fat and that I was going to have to do something about it.”
In another excerpt, she explained that the constant scrutiny over her appearance is why she shaved her head in 2007. “I’d been eyeballed so much growing up, I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body since I was a teenager. Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back,” she wrote.
Britney Spears Now Feels Like A 'Shadow' Of Herself
Unfortunately, she lost all control over her appearance after the conservatorship started in February 2008. “But under the conservatorship, I was made to understand that those days were now over. I had to grow my hair out and get back into shape. I had to go to bed early and take whatever medication they told me to take.”
“I think back now on my father and his associates having control over my body and my money for that long, and it makes me feel sick,” Britney wrote, saying that she now feels like “a shadow” of herself.
Britney Spears' tell-all memoir "The Woman In Me" is scheduled for release on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
