Pop star Britney Spears is dropping a lot of new bombshells about her relationship with Justin Timberlake.
Although fans knew that they dated from 1999 to 2002, they did not know that the former couple went through an unplanned pregnancy. On Tuesday, an excerpt from "The Woman In Me" revealed that the "Cry Me A River" singer "wasn't ready to be a father" and "wasn't happy about the pregnancy."
Justin Timberlake Is 'Trying Not To Concern Himself' With Britney Spears' New Memoir
It looks like Justin Timberlake is trying to focus on the relationship with his wife, actress Jessica Biel, and his two sons, following the bombshell revelations released from Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman In Me.” Although the two dated from 1999 to 2002, Justin went on to marry Jessica Biel in 2012 and the two are still together.
Britney, meanwhile, went on to marry Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007. The two welcomed two sons: Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17. Although Britney claims that she had an unplanned pregnancy with “The Social Network” actor in her memoir “The Woman In Me,” it looks like it is not going to shake his relationship.
"Justin has been focusing on his own family and trying not to concern himself with Britney’s memoir," a source told ET on Tuesday. "In recent years, Justin has tried to be supportive of Britney from a distance. They dated so long ago, but he still has respect for her. Justin and Jessica just want everyone to grow and evolve instead of continuing to bring up the past."
Britney Claims Justin Wasn't 'Ready To Be A Father'
In another excerpt of “The Woman In Me,” released by People magazine on Tuesday, the "Hold Me Closer" singer talked about the "agonizing" decision to let go of her pregnancy, especially after she said that Justin "wasn't ready to be a father."
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote in her memoir. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
“I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” she continued, adding, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
Britney Spears Recalls Her First Kiss With Justin Timberlake
Another excerpt of “The Woman In Me” published by People magazine on Tuesday talked about the start of Britney’s career in “The Mickey Mouse Club," which began in 1993. “Being in the show was boot camp for the entertainment industry: extensive dance rehearsals, singing lessons, acting classes, time in the recording studio, and school in between,” she wrote in her memoir, noting that she first appeared on the show in 1993. As Britney explained:
“The Mouseketeers quickly split into our own cliques, divided by the dressing rooms that we shared: Christina Aguilera and I were the younger kids, and we shared a dressing room. We looked up to the older kids–Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling, and Tony Lucca, who I thought was so handsome. And I quickly connected with a boy named Justin Timberlake.”
The two started their relationship soon after meeting, sharing their first kiss during a game of Truth or Dare while a Janet Jackson song played in the background. “[Once] at a sleepover, we played Truth or Dare, and someone dared Justin to kiss me,” she wrote. “A Janet Jackson song was playing in the background as he leaned in and kissed me.”
Although the “Hold Me Closer” singer described working on the show as “unbelievably fun,” she admitted that it was “exceptionally hard work,” with her and her costars expected to practice choreography and routines “thirty times in a day.”
She almost had a role with another “The Mickey Mouse Club” alum, "Barbie" actor Ryan Gosling, but she swore off acting after a "messed up" experience on the set of her 2002 movie "Crossroads."
