Tom Brady announced last year that he would retire from the NFL, however, he quickly had a change of heart as he came out of retirement just weeks later and returned to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022-23 season.

The Bucs made it to the playoffs, however, they were eliminated in the first round when they lost to the Dallas Cowboys. Shortly after, the 45-year-old took to social media to announce he is officially retiring from the NFL — for good this time.

“I really thank you guys so much, to every single one of you for supporting me, my family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors, I could go on forever there’s too many,” Brady said holding back tears. “Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. Now, NFL player Asante Samuel is urging Tom Brady to come out of retirement and rejoin his former team, the New England Patriots, because they are in desperate need for help. In fact, he even says if Brady came back, the Patriots would win the Super Bowl.

"This terrible team that everybody sees is a terrible team," Samuel told TMZ Sports. He added that Brady "can come right now, today, and win a Super Bowl for the New England Patriots. Because that's Tom Brady."

Under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, the Patriots played in nine Super Bowls, which is more than any other NFL franchise, and won a total of six. This year, the New England team is clearly struggling as they just had a 38-0 loss to New Orleans on Sunday, and are now just 1-4.

Samuel went on to say that these losses are just more proof that head coach Bill Belichick has been "a failure "when Brady is not quarterbacking for his team.

The news of Brady’s retirement came just a few months after he and his wife, Brazilian fashion model Gisele Bündchen, got divorced.

After the two finalized their divorce, Brady took to social media to share, “In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage.”

“We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve,” Brady continued to write on his Instagram Story.

“We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so, is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written,” he concluded.
