Justin Fields Put On A Game Winning Show For His Team During Thursday Night Football

Thursday's game was a significant improvement for Fields, as he didn't commit a turnover, providing a confidence boost for him and the Bears after a challenging start to the season. Fans on social media expressed their excitement over the quarterback's performance following the victory.

Leading the charge with his enthusiasm, former NFL player Robert Griffin III took to X, formerly Twitter, to drop a clip where he and free agent Cameron Newton discussed Fields "playing style" alongside the caption, "WE TRIED TO TELL YOU. Justin Fields can ball. Just let him play HIS GAME."

"Justin Fields currently leads the league in Passing Touchdowns with 11. MY GOATTTTTT," a second fan effused, while a third chimed:

"Justin Fields has shown great progress in last two games. One thing I'm psyched about is he started throwing the ball away. I'm less concerned about his comp % tonight.  He played smart down the stretch and didn't force what wasn't there."

A Bears' fan page wrote, "All the Justin Fields haters are quiet right now LOL. Have a night QB1. ?," and a fourth person pointed out, "Justin Fields now has thrown for 200+ yards in 4/5 games, something he only did 2 times ALL of last season. DJ Moore matters."

Fields himself had bragged about his phenomenal night and the pride he felt in a post-game interview. He said:

"It felt good. It felt good. Just seeing all the hard work pay off, especially getting a dub after everything that's happened this year. Everything in the media. Everything on the outside. It just feels good when you can say that the hard work paid off, so again, I'm proud of everybody in the building. I love everybody on my team. Players, coaches, shoot, everybody upstairs. I might not even know them, but I love y'all."

"That feeling was, like I said before, a feeling that you never want it to end, and we just got to keep this momentum going and just get ready for Minnesota coming up next week," the 24-year-old added.

The NFL website observed that despite a strong start against the Denver Broncos in their previous game, the Bears squandered a 21-point third-quarter lead and lost. So, when they took a 27-3 lead at halftime against the Commanders but found themselves with a slim 30-20 lead in the fourth quarter, they knew they had to fight to secure the win.

The NFL Star Opened Up About The Bears' Coaching Style After A Recent Game

Amid the jubilation, it's worth noting that Fields had previously called out the Bears' coaching style after a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month.

He began by saying that his plan going forward was to "play football like I know how to play football," which "includes thinking less and just going out there and playing off of instincts, rather than say so much info in my head and data in my head." Explaining that one of the reasons for his overthinking during games is the coaching he said:

"You know, [it] could be coaching, I think. At the end of the day, they are doing their job when they are giving me what to look at, but at the end of the day, I can't be thinking about that when the game comes."

After asserting that he spent all week preparing himself and that when it's time for the game he'd "play free," Fields clarified that although he doesn't believe there are too many coaches influencing his play, he would do much better if the approach became simplified.
