Justin Fields has added more fire to the ongoing Chicago Bears controversy.

While fans have been scrambling to figure out why Alan Williams abruptly quit from his role as the Bears defensive coordinator, Fields has opened up about the team's struggles. He candidly admitted feeling "robotic and not playing like myself" in the team's Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and seemingly blamed the coaching technique for his poor performance.

Justin Fields Has A Problem With The Chicago Bears Coaching Style

Even though Fields is determined to rectify the offensive struggles in his team, he had no problem airing the Bears' somewhat dirty laundry in public.

The quarterback had attended a press conference after his team's game against the Buccaneers and opened the floor with how he intended to handle his upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He began:

"My goal this week is to say, 'eff it' and go out there and play football like I know how to play football. That includes thinking less and just going out there and playing off of instincts, rather than say so much info in my head and data in my head, and clearly just going out there and playing football. That's when I play my best…when I'm out there playing free and being myself."

According to the 24-year-old, one of the reasons he believed he would overthink during games is the coaching he has received. "You know, could be coaching, I think. At the end of the day, they are doing their job when they are giving me what to look at, but at the end of the day, I can't be thinking about that when the game comes," Fields said.

He then added that he spent all week preparing himself, "and then when the game comes, it's time to play free at that point. Thinking less and playing more." The NFL star clarified that while he does not believe there are too many coaches influencing his play, he would do much better if the approach became simplified.

He mentioned that instead of trusting his instincts, the abundance of information is causing him to try to process too much, ultimately slowing down his performance on the field.

While some think that Fields' comments are indicative of some internal conflicts, Eberflus, who took over as the Bears defensive coordinator following Williams' resignation, did not flinch at the comments. Instead, he acknowledged that he and the University of Georgia alum were working toward the same goal. In his words:

"I just think that he wants to be able to let it flow, let it go, let him be himself and play free, and I think that's where he's at right now. That's what we want. We want him to do that. He feels that presence in the pocket where he's got pressure and he sees a place where he can work to either do a scramble drill, throw the ball down the field or take off and go."

Williams' name has repeatedly appeared in news headlines since a statement containing his resignation from the Bears was published. As The Blast reported, the 53-year-old had penned:

"I am taking a step back to take care of my health and family. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chicago Bears, a storied NFL franchise with a rich history. I value the NFL shield and all that it stands for and after taking some time to address my health, I plan to come back and coach again."

Despite making it clear he made the move for his health and family, fans were understandably confused when speculations about his house getting raided by the FBI surfaced online. Since answers from the Bears were not forthcoming one person shared his thoughts via X, writing:

"The Bears not saying anything about Alan Williams and it's been HOURS since the news broke he left is making me suspicious again. Then again, this is the Bears. They cannot do PR for sh*t."

"The Chicago Bears should give some clarity to the Alan Williams situation soon. It does not sound very good at all," a second fan stated, as a third wondered:

"Bro is there like a huge bot army opp going on with the Chicago Bears right now? Every single aggregator posted about Alan Williams house and workplace being raided but I can't find a single legitimate source about either place being raided??"

Claims about Williams' space getting raided were ultimately put to rest by his attorney Andrew M. Stroth, who told Courtney Cronin, "I just want to set the record straight that Coach Williams has some health challenges and some family issues he's dealing with and he thought it was the right time to take a step back and deal with those issues."
