“It may take two to tango, but it takes three to solve a murder.”

“Only Murders In The Building” season three saw the return of Mable (Selena Gomez), Oliver (Martin Short), and Charles (Steven Martin), as they solved the murder of Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd).

The season finale of the third season just debuted on Hulu, which also saw the addition of new characters Loretta (Meryl Streep) and Tobert (Jesse Williams). Just moments after the finale hit the streaming service, it was announced that fans will get to see Gomez, Short, and Martin return for a fourth season.

Though details have not yet been released, it has been confirmed that another season is coming.. and it's a good thing considering how the third season ended.

The mind-blowing season finale of "Only Murders In The Building" was just released and to say it left fans in shock is an understatement.

Viewers watched as Mable (Gomez), Oliver (Short), and Charles (Martin) solved Ben Glenroy's murder, revealing Cliff, the producer of the play, pushing Ben (Rudd) down the elevator shaft following an argument over the fact that Ben figured out Donna, Cliff's mother, poisoned Ben in an attempt to save her son's first play.

Both Donna and Cliff were arrested before the after-party showed the entire cast gathered together to celebrate the successful musical. Fans were then met with Sazz Patak (Jane Lynch), who returned to tell Charles some "sensitive" news. Although Sazz never got to tell Charles that news as she was murdered in the apartment.

The show took to social media just moments after the season three finale dropped on Hulu, confirming a fourth season is coming. "Only Murders in the Building is coming back for Season 4! Let the investigating begin... ?️‍♂️?️‍♂️?️‍♀️." the company wrote on Instagram.

This does not come as too much of a surprise considering the way season three ended.. but what could fans see in the next season of the hit series?

Although details have not been confirmed, fans watched as Jane Lynch's character, Sazz, was murdered. She looked to be stabbed in the heart as Sazz was seen touching her chest as blood poured out before beginning to write a line on the floor with her own blood. Could she have been trying to leave a clue for whoever finds her? Perhaps she attempted to write the killer's name before she died.

Fans do know that Sazz told Charles that she needed a moment to talk with him about some "sensitive" news, however, Charles got distracted by a text from Joy (Andrea Martin). So it could be that the killer wanted to get to Sazz before she told Charles whatever she had to tell him.

Could Charles Have Been The REAL Target?

Another working theory is that the killer's target was actually Charles.. Sazz is known to be Charles's stunt double when he was Brasos on the hit television show, and the two still dress similarly. In fact, on the night Sazz was murdered, both Charles and Sazz were wearing hats and tuxedos, meaning the killer could have mistaken Sazz for Charles — Perhaps even someone during Charles’ time on the television show “Brazos”.

Considering how often Charles brings up his time on the hit show, fans really don’t know much about the cast and crew on “Brazos” — so the plot could bring in some new characters and then, in turn, pin Sazz’s murder on an old costar — maybe even someone who hated Charles as much as Matthew Broderick’s character did in season three.

The team could further the plot line by going back in time and show flashbacks -- even casting an actor/actress as young Mable and young Oliver to really bring the storyline full circle and give fans a look into each character’s past.

As we know, “Only Murders” loves a good plot twist (or several), so it wouldn’t be surprising if the production team decided to go back in time to the filming of “Brazos” and tie in the twist of a cast member dying on the set. At the time, police ruled it an accident (or a suicide), but after Sazz’s murder, they reopened the case and find out it was also a murder — and this murderer is now back and wants Charles gone as they have been listening to the “Only Murders” podcast.

Regardless of the storyline, fans cannot wait to see the trio of detectives get back together to solve yet another murder together. There is no release date for season four at this time.
