Michelle Waterson-Gomez broke down in tears following the referee stoppage of her fight against Marina Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 79 over the weekend, and the damage is stunning.

The UFC fight went viral online after fans watched a savage beating, leaving Waterson with tears in her eyes. But, now the frown had turned upside down.

Despite her loss, the MMA fighter is pushing forward as she shared the above image along with the caption "Every adversity, every failure, and every heartache, carries with it the Seed of an equivalent or greater Benefit. NAPOLEON HILL."

Fans immediately rallied behind the fighter, commenting on her post. "You are a true legend and a warrior! I remember you on girl fight on the oxygen channel back in the day. It was tough to watch and I hope you truly consider stepping away and teaching the younger generation. God bless you," one fan wrote.

Another said, "You are a warrior with a heart of Gold sis! You are such an inspiration. We love you!"

As one fan chimed in by saying, "I honestly thought she was gunna retire after the performance. But I’m glad to see she’s sticking around. Definitely needs to fight lower ranked opponents".

But some fans hope to see her retire and be there for her daughter. "Her style was always predictable. God bless her, it's time for you. Unfortunately, following the fight over the weekend, Michelle Waterson-Gomez now has four straight losses for “Karate Hottie,” who drops to 1-6 in her last seven fights.

UFC Hall of Famer Rashad Evans, who served as Waterson's teammate for many years while both fighters trained under head coach Greg Jackson, also spoke out on the loss.

“It was tough,” Evans said during the UFC Vegas 79 post-fight show, per MMA Fighting. “Because at the end of the night, when she came to me, she said, ‘I didn’t want him to stop it. I wanted to come back. I wanted to come back and I know could come back.’”

“I’ve known Michelle for the longest time,” Evans added. “We go back to Jackson’s and when she was named ‘Peanut.’ She was one of the guys on the team and she was just always there, just going through the workouts we did.

Evans continued, “It was hard for me to see her in that moment because I know what it’s like to want to keep going, but you just can’t.”
