It looks like pop star Britney Spears has given her approval to let her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, join the cast of "Dancing With The Stars."
Although the decision to proceed with the show amid the SAG-AFTRA actor's strike has remained a subject of controversy, fans of the "Toxic" singer were worried about how the fraught relationship between the two sisters might be used to fuel more drama between the family. However, sources revealed that Britney not only was given advanced notice that Jamie Lynn was going to be asked to join "Dancing With The Stars," but approved of the decision.

This is not the first time that Jamie Lynn Spears has appeared on a reality TV show. After appearing on Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” the “Zoey 101” star got emotional on camera, explaining that it was “hard” growing up as the sister of pop star Britney Spears, and she struggled with her self-esteem because of it.
In a since-deleted Instagram post, Britney went off on her sister, writing, “Are we gonna say it was hard being my sister ???? Hmmmmmmmmmmm …. really ??? Well, this was my spa plan at Vegas as my childhood friends had their heads held high with a seat for toes and nails and a bottle of champagne for each one of them while I STOOD AT THE DOOR ? not allowed to go in …. but bet ur bottom dollar they be gotten their entertainment from me that night !!!!!”
She continued, “They hurt me and nothing was done except that I lost 15 years of my life with my family owning my name … subjected to being an angel while my dad has 5 women on his tour bus drinking that cup of coffee … so cool and smooth it must have been nice owning my name for 15 years … it honestly blows my mind the hardships you say you have had with having me as your sister … I’m sorry you feel that way but don’t ever poke at my broken foot in a kitchen telling me to go to the doctor because my foot infection might infect your royal children !!!”
However, it seems like the two have made amends over the years, and the “Oops!... I Did It Again” singer even claimed that she met up with her estranged sister on the set of “Zoey 102” in June. On Sunday morning, sources told TMZ that the pop star was not "blindsided" by the decision, as fans have been speculating. Instead, insiders claimed that Britney was "fully aware" and "approved" of Jamie Lynn Spears joining "Dancing With The Stars." It is not clear who delivered the news to Britney, but sources say that she was "fully supportive" and even "excited" to see her sister perform.
Jamie Lynn Spears Says She Will Donate Her 'DWTS' Salary Amid SAG-AFTRA Strike
On September 12, only one day before the official celebrity line-up was revealed, the “Sweet Magnolias” actress took to Instagram to share a few photos of her “Dancing With The Stars” casting announcement and revealed that she planned to donate her salary due to the strikes.
“Decided to lace up my dancing shoes for a good reason,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “I was offered an opportunity that is completely out of the ordinary of something I would normally ever do, but it’s during a time when my community #SAG & #WGA are on strike & all of us members are unable to work until we have reached a fair resolution, so if I’m able to use this unique opportunity to bring more awareness and to donate the salary I get for dancing each week back to the community who has given me so much, then it’s the least I can do.”
“I could not ask for a better partner than @alanbersten to guide me through this adventure,” she added. “I’m not gonna lie, I’m scared, but I’m just gonna have fun and hopefully be able to give back in a meaningful way until we can ALL GET BACK TO OUR DAY JOBS.”
Many famous friends, like Jessie James Decker, showed their support for her decision to join the show. “So excited for you! Although Jamie Lynn moderates comments on her Instagram page, her partner, season 28 Champion and Juniors Champion Alan Bersten, did not moderate comments on his. Many Britney Spears fans used the comments of his post to slam her casting and express concerns over how producers may play up drama between the two sisters.
