Selena Gomez Channels Inner 'Alex Russo' As She Returns To TikTok After 1-Month Hiatus

Selena Gomez has made a bold return to TikTok!

Almost one month after she seemingly disappeared from the social media platform, the singer and actress has an update for her followers. The last time she shared anything on the app, Gomez had uploaded a clip of her getting ready for a photoshoot while her 2023 hit song, "Single Soon," played in the background.

Gomez appeared to be maintaining her single energy when she logged onto TikTok on Friday to post a new video. Sporting a perfectly makeup face, a white long-sleeved supermini dress, and studs, the "Only Murders in the Building" faced the camera.

She sat on a green chair, pulled on either side of her ponytail, and leaned into the camera. At this point, she jokingly lipsynced to a famous sound from television personality Cely Vazquez.

"Guess who has a boyfriend? Not me b*tch, you all be safe out there," the "Love You Like a Love Song" hitmaker said, happily waving her hand at viewers. Since it was uploaded less than 24 hours ago, the video has received 1.1 million views and nearly 7k comments.

A look at what some of her fans typed in the comments section revealed their thoughts on how Gomez's look and mannerisms were reminiscent of her "Wizards of Waverly Place" character, Alex Russo.

"True definition of Alex Russo?," one person wrote, and "It's giving very much Alex Russo, and I'm here for it," another claimed. A third viewer emphasized, "ALEX RUSSO IS SO BACK," while a fourth giddily asserted, "???? I have been missing Alex Russo ??? here you are, queen??."

Others focused on the message behind the former Disney star's clip. This netizen pointed out, "We don't need boyfriends or husbands. We just need to live life, be happy and have fun ❤️❤️," and another agreed, "Better to be single, healthy, and happy."

Meanwhile, one TikTok user only had words of affirmation for Gomez. They expressed, "Hey Selena you deserve the best of the best. Take your time and don't rush it. You are an amazing, beautiful, talented, person. Be safe and I hope."

At the same time, an eighth commenter only wanted "an adulthood version of Wizards of Waverly place show!!!" The clamor for the return of the comedy series began shorty after its show runner, Peter Murrieta, disclosed that Russo was bisexual.

"I wished we could have played more with what was quite obvious to a lot of us was the relationship between Stevie and Alex," he said during an appearance on the "Wizards of Waverly Pod" earlier this year.

With that statement, the "Level Up" executive producer seemed focused on further developing Russo's queer identity with the help of a teenage wizard named Stevie Nichols [played by Hayley Kiyoko]. Unfortunately, he only appeared in four episodes of the Disney show. 

As cited by InStyle, the father of two added, "We weren't able to in that time, but it was pretty clear to all of us what that relationship was. That would have been fun."

A dedicated Gomez fan recently took a bold step by openly expressing his romantic interest in the pop superstar. The devotee had seen his moment and seized it when the 31-year-old shared an unfiltered image of her bare face on Instagram.

The post immediately pulled traction, getting over six million likes and almost 50k comments. From praises of how "gorgeous," "cute," and "beautiful" she looked to declarations of love, her fans had the comments section covered.

However, one commenter stood out, unashamedly expressing his deepest desire to be the Rare Beauty founder's man. The Instagram user, whose display name reads Julian Frick — @iamjulianfrick — began by noting his age, "23 years young, almost 24, so if you round up l'm basically 25,@ and "Height: 187cm," before adding:

"Education: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, so I'm good with words and talking them. Personality: Kind, respectful, loving, outgoing, cool and funny enough to make your grandparents laugh. Humor: Dry, sarcastic, lovable, and playful."

The Selenator also noted that he "gets along" with his mom, is "in touch with his emotions" thanks to therapy, can play the guitar, "make some lovely dinners," and "recently achieved slightly impressive calf muscles."

Frick wrapped up by shinning the light on his "cons" which included never dating a celebrity, being "low on money," having "sessional allergies," and making "a few bad investments."

While everybody eagerly awaits the outcome of the public declaration, The Blast observed that the since-deleted comment came after Gomez shared what he was looking for in a potential partner.
