Liam Payne's Mother 'Worried Sick' For Him After The Singer's Health Scare During A Trip With His Girlfriend

In a heartfelt and emotional statement, Liam Payne's mother, Karen Payne, has revealed her deep concern for her son after he was reportedly rushed to the hospital during an anniversary trip to Lake Como with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy.

Liam, who celebrated his 30th birthday last month, announced that he was canceling his tour after he was admitted for a "serious kidney infection."

Former 1D member Liam Payne suffered a health scare during what was supposed to be a romantic getaway for him and his girlfriend Cassidy, who were celebrating their anniversary at the picturesque Lake Como in Italy. 

The trip took an unexpected turn when the "Strip That Down" singer reportedly experienced severe kidney pain that led to his hospitalization.

According to the Daily Mail, his mother has now shared her devastation about the medical emergency, noting that she and other family members are "worried sick" about his condition.

"We are all worried sick about it, but we just have to get on," Karen shared. "It's horrible—him being all the way over there."

"He's in Milan, and it sounds like he'll be there for a week. I feel helpless," she continued, adding that she can only "hope for the best" and "sit it out."

"It's such a horrible situation, and we just hope he's in the best place possible," the 62-year-old noted.

The recent health incident follows the cancellation of Liam's tour in South America, which was announced just last month. As he noted in his Instagram post, the tour cancellation was due to a "serious kidney infection," sharing that doctors ordered him to "rest and recover."

"It's with a heavy heart I have to tell you that we have no other choice but to postpone my upcoming tour of South America," the caption on the post read. "Over the past week, I've been in hospital with a serious kidney infection, It's something I wouldn't wish on anyone, and doctors' orders are that I now need to rest and recover."

According to the Daily Mail, a source shared that doctors are doing everything possible to get to the bottom of the situation but think there might have been an "underlying issue" that has been "getting worse" before now.

It is not known if the former One Direction star's kidney infection was due to his use of alcohol in the past, but Liam recently shared his triumphant journey towards sobriety, revealing that he's almost six months sober after spending 100 days in rehab.

The pop sensation, who gained fame as part of his world-renowned boy band, opened up about his battle with substance use and the pivotal decision to seek professional help in a YouTube video he shared in July.

"I just kind of feel like I've got more of a grip on life and everything that was getting away from me, I just feel like I've got more of a handle on it," Liam said. "I just needed to take a little bit of time out for myself actually because I kind of became somebody who I didn't really recognize anymore. And I'm sure you guys didn't either. I was in bad shape up until that point, and I was really happy to kind of put a stopper to life and work."

He went on to note that he had to work on himself and realized that alcohol "isn't really serving" him, adding that he had gone six months without drinking at the time.

"It's good, it's good to be in this position," he said. "I definitely don't need those things anymore. The party's over."

Liam recently celebrated his 30th birthday in spectacular fashion, marking a joyful occasion following his recent hospitalization due to a "serious kidney infection."

According to The Sun, the singer enjoyed a clay pigeon shooting class with his girlfriend, Cassidy, at the luxury members' club Honesberie in Warwickshire. He was surrounded by his friends and family while concluding the celebration with a fireworks display.

"Despite it being a landmark birthday, Liam hadn't actually planned anything before being taken ill," a source told the news outlet. "He's still very much recovering and is gutted he won't be on the road in a few days time as planned."

The insider added, "But his friends and family made sure the day was as special as possible. To be honest, now he's been sober for over six months, Liam was never going to be partying into the early hours."
