There's A Warrant Out For Drew Barrymore's Stalker
Chad Michael Busto is officially wanted after missing a hearing for his stalking charges. A Southampton Justice Court judge issued a bench warrant for Busto's arrest after he missed a fitting for his GPS monitor. A court clerk revealed the development in the stalking case to TMZ on Tuesday.
Busto's most recent hearing for the charges was on August 25th, when Judge Barbara Wilson released him. At the time, he was charged with a misdemeanor of fourth-degree stalking of Barrymore. Judge Wilson released Busto on the condition that he stay away from the actress and wear a GPS tracker.
Busto's stalking charges aren't a bailable offense. His next court appearance regarding the charges and trespassing Barrymore's home is on September 12th. This isn't the first time Busto has gotten into trouble for stalking and not his first time trying to access Barrymore.
Drew Barrymore's Stalker Recently Tried To See Her
On August 23rd, Busto was arrested around Barrymore's Hamptons home after he was reported for lurking around the neighborhood. He had allegedly approached several people, looking for the "50 First Dates" actress's $6 million farmhouse. Thankfully, sources revealed that Barrymore wasn't home when Busto was at the property.
Just two days before he was arrested at her Hamptons property, Busto accosted Barrymore in New York. The "Never Been Kissed" actress was having an interview with fellow actress Renee Rapp when he broke into the space. According to the New York Post, as Busto approached the stage, he shouted at Barrymore, demanding to see her "at some point."
He said, "You know who I am! I need to see you at some point while you're in New York!" Busto was quickly restrained from coming closer by a guard beside the stage. Clips of the moment have since gone viral on social media, especially on Twitter and TikTok.
After the incident, Busto spoke to the Daily Mail about why he wanted to talk to Barrymore. He claimed he'd met the actress several years ago and hoped to build a romantic relationship with her.
He Has An Extensive Criminal Record
After the incident, police sources revealed to the Daily Mail that Busto has a "lengthy criminal record."
It reportedly extends back to 1999 and has charges as recent as January 2022. Busto's criminal history includes harassment, indecent exposure, criminal trespass, theft, and disorderly conduct.
During his August hearing with Judge Wilson, Busto claimed that he had another hearing in Texas Court on September 3rd. However, he failed to disclose the nature of his charges there. Busto also claimed to the court that he was bankrupt and planning to move into a shelter.
After clips of Busto accosting Barrymore in New York went viral, social media users shared that he has a history of stalking female celebs. He's reportedly also stalked actress Amber Heard. According to the Daily Beast, one user revealed that someone named "C. Michael Busto" was removed from Heard's Facebook fan group for stalking.
Drew Barrymore Has Moved On From Stalking Incident
Sources close to Barrymore told the Daily Mail that she's not disturbed by the incidents with Busto. They said, "Drew feels good, feels safe, and even at the moment, it happened so fast she was OK and didn't stress about it. She has moved on from the incident as she knows that people were there to protect her."
The source explained that Barrymore didn't want to make the incident the focus of the night, so she quickly "forgot about it." The "Blended" actress thought it was more important to "revert the attention back to the conversation" she was having with Rapp before Gusto came in and asked to see her.
The source added, "She is not going to change the way she runs her life and protects herself, all those things are and have been set for her during her entire life, and she doesn't want anyone to worry about her wellbeing."
