Fans are not impressed with Doja Cat's update on the artwork of her upcoming album.

The "Kiss Me More" hitmaker came under some backlash after she uploaded a picture unveiling the fresh version of the project's cover, "Scarlet." The latest snag comes after she revoked the first version of the work earlier this week.

Doja Cat's Fans Called Her Out Over The Update On Her Album

The last few days have been rather dramatic for Doja, as she had to delete the original artwork of her "Scarlet" after it was likened to that of the German metal band Chaver. The initial art displayed not only bore a resemblance to the group's spider in a fitting shade of scarlet, but the same person designed them, and both projects are expected to drop on September 22.

The unexpected event led to the singer-songwriter deleting the post. And now, she has announced an alternate cover in an Instagram post that came alongside the caption, "Updated Cover."

The new artwork showcases a hand-drawn creature resembling a spider, with pearls representing its head and abdomen, set against a white background. Reactions immediately began pouring in from her fans and followers, with one person stating, "Addicted to have an album cover that doesn't serve."

"it's a dope cover but with all da love doja it's a weak cover .... i was hoping for bloody scarlet or something like the tour promo photo ... tho i'm still super excited for the album," a second netizen pointed out. A third cybernaut quipped, "me when friend lets me copy his work and tell me to change something," and a fourth simply laughed.

Chaver had previously given a shout-out to the artist responsible for their album artwork, Dusty Ray. They had shared via social media:

"The striking cover art, masterfully crafted by Dusty Ray @sloppjockey_ert (who has been with us since our first album), serves as a captivating contrast to the album's intense music, setting the stage for a trip to a place of pain."

As for Doja's deletion of the initial album cover, Popcrave disclosed via X, "Doja Cat has deleted her album announcement post for 'Scarlet.' The decision appears to be made after similarities were found between her album cover and that of metal band CHAVER. Both artworks were made by artist Dusty Ray."

The news caused this fan to express, "I'm confused why it's so similar omg?? Damn near an exact replica. She commissioned this so it should be custom, even if it is by the same artist ☹️ Man that sucks." Another X user commented, "I'm actually glad, because that little spider wasn't doing it for me anyway."

The 'Attention' Artist Has Been At Odds With Her Supporters

Aside from making changes in her impending musical project, Doja has been at loggerheads with her fanbase for months. As The Blast reported, her repeated attempts at insulting them resulted in them unfollowing her massively.

She had responded to the situation by writing via her Instagram Story, "Seeing all these people unfollow me makes me feel like I've defeated a large beast that's been holding me down for so long. And it feels like I can reconnect with the people who really matter and love me for who I am and not for who I was."

Weeks later, the "Wine Pon You" performer uploaded a picture of a tap with a black head, seemingly running into a bathtub. "All that matters to me is that my fans know who I am and the others are stuck trying to figure out," Doja typed across the photo.

The battle between the Grammy Award-winning singer and her fans led to the deactivation of three prominent fan accounts of the former, specifically Doja HQ, The Kittens Room, and Doja Cat News. During this incident, the "So High" artist advised the pages' handlers and her other supporters to "get a life, get a job, and help your parents with the house."

The situation escalated more when one of her fans mentioned holding a poll about a befitting fan base name in 2020 and in response, the "Paint the Town Red" hitmaker called the poll creator an "alcoholic teen."

She then claimed, "My fans don't call themselves sh*t," igniting people's fury even more. As it stands, we are on the edge of our seats wondering if Doja will eventually give in and apologize to the offended community.
