Porter has been keeping all her followers and Howie's fans in-the-know about all that's going on with the sweet rainbow crab during this molt.

In a recent YouTube video, Porter shared some important information.

"I'm very stressed about Howie's molt. Just, you know, pins and needles. She was in really good spirits today, she was playing with her ball and everything, but in the back of my mind, I'm like, she hasn't eaten. I know she's gonna get weaker and that this is just an okay day. I know she's cranky because it hurts and she doesn't feel good, but we're getting there. I feel like we're seeing progress, but it's scary because she's so old," she explained.

A TikTok video on day 22 explains that Howie hasn't eaten in three weeks and isn't doing much. Porter pointed out the texture of her shell and other good signs that point in the direction that things are progressing normally. But fans are still concerned.

"I'm not sure I'm prepared for this after the last molt, 😳" one fan wrote. Another added, "She is the Betty White of crabs...She must survive🥰"

Many others left loving messages and uplifting thoughts to let her know they are rooting for her success.

"Sending all the good vibes and love to Howie, she’s got this!! 👑🥰," one person wrote. "Keep going Howie; We're rooting for you! Thinking of you Howie's Mom. ❤️"

When Howie molted in December, fans from all over the world were glued to social media waiting for good news. When Howie began molting, Porter went live on TikTok so fans could experience the big moment with her as it happened.

Howie's mom recently talked to The Blast exclusively about the last molt and how this one is going so far.

"Howie’s molt is still on track. As of August 12, she hasn’t eaten food in 16 days. Her last molt, she went a whole month without eating and she had previously never done that before," Porter shared. "But what really worried me about her last molt was the amount of times she stopped eating. It was a three-month battle."

She said that sharing the last molt live with everyone who was so invested in Howie successfully molting really brought everyone together.

"When I was lucky enough to capture her molt last year and live stream it, it really brought the world together. When people have something to root for, none of the things that divide us matter. There are videos online of how crabs molt, but I think the experience of seeing it in real time gave people a new understanding for how difficult it can be for crustaceans," Porter told The Blast.

"My biggest take away from that whole experience was seeing the reactions of people. All the duets and videos of people watching along. It brought me to tears seeing how many people are attached to Howie and truly love her."
