Britney Spears Plans To Buy A Horse Amid Sam Asghari Divorce

Singer Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari, are calling it quits on their 14-month marriage.

On Wednesday, August 16, the Iranian actor reportedly filed for divorce from his wife citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split. The two met on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016, became engaged in September 2021, and tied the knot in June 2022. Although their marriage was plagued with rumors of trouble, the two tried to put up a united front on social media.

Although it looks like the couple is going their separate ways, it looks like Britney is making room for someone new in her life... a new horse!

On Wednesday night, the “Mind Your Business” singer took to Instagram for the first time since rumors broke of her divorce earlier that day. However, she shocked fans when she didn’t address the rumors of her split – or accusations that she cheated on her husband – at all. Instead, she shared a single photo that featured her sitting on a horse in Mexico in a yellow bikini top and black shorts.

In the caption of this Instagram post, Britney wrote, “Buying a horse soon ? !!! So many options it’s kinda hard !!! A horse called Sophie and another called Roar ? ??? I can’t make up my mind ? !!! Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on ? ??? Either way I think I found my sweet spot with Roar ? !!!” Comments on this Instagram post, like many of her past Instagram posts, have been turned off.

Unfortunately, it looks like the marriage is not going to have a quick ending.  In the divorce filing, first obtained by TMZ, Sam put down July 28, 2023, as the date of separation along with requests for spousal support and attorneys fees. He has also retained lawyer Neal Hearsh to represent him. Although Britney reportedly had an iron-clad prenup, it looks like Sam intends on fighting it.

According to the court documents, the actor “has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.” The court documents go on to say, “There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time.”

A source told Page Six that the "Special Ops: Lioness" actor is reportedly “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.” Another insider confirmed to Page Six that “Britney and Sam signed a prenup in her favor,” adding, “Any money she made before the wedding is protected.”

Britney's attorney, Mathew Rosengart, reportedly hired a family attorney to draft the prenup. Both Sam and Britney have lawyered up amid the divorce, as yet another source told Page Six later on Wednesday night that the "Toxic" singer hired high-power divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her.

ET was the first to report that Sam had filed for divorce amid allegations that she had cheated on him. A source noted that “She’s adamant she didn’t cheat,” adding, “The two haven’t got along for a while and it finally came to an end after a major blowup.”

“She has been denying any cheating allegations and going through a lot of emotions,” they continued. “She is hurt because the situation brings up old feelings for her. This is the last thing she needed, especially after her boys moved to Hawaii, being worried about the fires there, and so on.”

“Britney and Sam have had ups and downs throughout their relationship. They have a lot of love for each other, but they also argue a lot over fundamental issues,” they added. “Sometimes they feel as though each other’s needs aren’t being completely met. Recently, things took a bad turn and their arguments became more serious and real.”

“Their issues tend to get worse when they are away from each other and spending time apart. Britney has the tendency to feel like she isn’t being prioritized by Sam at times,” the source claimed. “Their arguments have led them to become unhappy at times in their relationship. They are also on different pages when it comes to their future as a couple, which has been a point of contention.”
