Katharine McPhee's family has been dealt a great blow.
The 39-year-old singer, who has been busy performing alongside her 16-time Grammy-winning musician husband, David Foster recently took to social media to alert her followers in a statement in which she revealed the news of a "horrible" family tragedy.
To that end, she announced her unavailability for the two final dates of her tour due to the urgent need to "return home to family." Even though McPhee did not state what the exact tragedy was, her fellow superstars were quick to support her with their prayers and wishes.
Katharine McPhee Skips The Last Days Of The Ongoing Asian Leg Of Her Tour
Just two days before McPhee and Foster rocked their Asian fans' worlds one last time during their ongoing tour, the former has revealed her absence. In a statement shared via her Instagram page, the "Country Comfort" actress began:
"Dearest Jakarta fans, it's with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final 2 shows of our Asia run. David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family, and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family."
She pleaded with them to "know how sorry" she was and how much she wished "to return one day and perform for you all," before signing off with, "Love, Katharine." Since her frustration and pain could be felt through her words, it did not take long before her colleagues rallied round her in the comment section.
Singer Nicole Scherzinger penned, "Sending my love and prayers for your family," while former actress Linda Thompson shared, "Sending you and David love, & hoping that everything is OK."
Television personality Amanda Kloots chimed, "Sending you loads of love. I'm thinking of you guys," while one fan commented, "I hope your family will be ok very soon ... family first."
"Thinking of you guys," a second fan stated, as a third exclaimed, "I'm so sorry! Family comes first! all the best wishes to you!" A fourth netizen claimed, "I'm praying everything is okay dear Kat and David."
The tense atmosphere is a direct contrast to the ambient mood that followed when McPhee celebrated a major milestone in her and Foster's life. Per The Blast, the "Scorpion" star had logged onto Instagram to disclose that she and the Canadian composer had recorded a Christmas album in honor of the festive season.
Beneath the breathtaking image of them posing next to a Christmas tree and presents, the mother-of-one typed, "Super excited I got to record with my best friend again – first time was when I was just off of American idol 17 years ago – and the good part was he had to do all the work.🤣 I just listened to who I deem as the absolute best, and the rest was simple."
The comments that flowed in from their fans were filled with praise for Foster and his wife's success, with many claiming that they could not wait for the album's release.
The 'Hit Man: David Foster and Friends' Star Unveiled Her Son's Drumming Skills
Over the years, fans have become accustomed to seeing McPhee showing off the talents of the only child she shares with her husband online. Hence it was no surprise when she uploaded a video of her son, Rennie, exploring the music world through drumming.
As The Blast reported last October, the moment had come shortly after the "You May Not Kiss the Bride" performer enjoyed a dermo-cosmetic session at the Biologique Recherche.
After she rounded off her personalized treatments, the doting mother picked up her two-year-old son for a date with their "main squeeze." Explaining how the events unfolded, McPhee wrote across the clip:
"Then I picked up Rennie, and we went to see our main squeeze @davidfoster back in the studio… and Rennie still banging on the drums. 🤣😩 at all times."
Her playful dismay seemed to flow with Rennie happily flaunting his budding drumming talent without paying attention to his parents or environment. She also posted a picture of her baby boy sitting on her lap for support as he explored the complete drum set in his father's studio.
