Matt Damon Recalls Kiss Scene With Scarlett Johansson
During an interview with LADbible, Matt Damon reflected on his kiss with Scarlett Johansson for their 2011 film, "We Bought a Zoo." He jokingly asked the interview to imagine "how horrible that was" for him and said it "was hell!"
Damon explained how the kiss scene went south. He said, "What happened was, we did a shot before lunch and it was this nice little two-shot that ended in the kiss. And it was really good." He and Johansson thought they were done with the scene and went for lunch, during which the actress ate an onion sandwich.
However, when filming resumed, Damon and Johansson were informed they had to film the kiss scene again. He said, "She (Johansson) came in, and Cameron Crowe (the film's director) had set the camera up, and it was like a tight shot of the kiss. She goes, 'Ah sh*t! I literally just had an onion sandwich!'"
Damon revealed that he made fun of Johansson throughout the scene, especially for her "onion breath." However, the "Oppenheimer" star said it was all jokes and that his co-star's breath actually "smells like roses!"
He Almost Had A Kiss Scene With Best Friend Ben Affleck
Damon has previously made headlines for his revelations about kissing other actors on screen. In 2021, he and Ben Affleck had an interview with Entertainment Tonight, where they revealed they were meant to kiss in their film, "The Last Duel." Unfortunately, the kiss scene was later removed from the script.
Affleck said, "In the original actual version of that scene — the way that ceremony actually took place was that you kissed everybody on the mouth. And we had that in the script." Damon then said the scene would have been their "first on-screen kiss."
Matt Damon & Scarlett Johansson Are Both Married
Despite their close friendship, Damon and Johansson are both happily married to other people and have children. The "Ford vs. Ferrari" actor married Luciana Barroso in 2005, and they have four daughters, Alexia, Isabella, Gia, and Stella.
Damon and Barroso were recently photographed with their daughters on a family vacation to Greece. Photos obtained by Page Six showed the actor shirtless and wearing green shorts as he kissed his bikini-clad wife. The couple was also photographed enjoying the water, sunbathing, and walking on the beach.
Meanwhile, Johannson married actor and "Saturday Night Live" star Colin Jost in 2020, her second marriage after separating from Romain Dauriac. She and Jost have a 2-year-old son Cosmo and also share her daughter, Rose, with Dauriac.
Matt Damon In 'Oppenheimer'
Damon is currently enjoying the success of his new movie, "Oppenheimer," by famous director Christopher Nolan. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Damon and his co-star, Emily Blunt, opened up about their time making the film. They revealed that the lead actor, Cillian Murphy missed most of their cast outing because of his drastic diet for the film.
Damon said, "We invited Cillian to dinner every night, and he never went," and Blunt added that Murphy mostly had "one almond most nights or a little slice of apple." Damon later added, "He was losing so much weight for the part that he just didn't eat dinner, ever."
"Oppenheimer" was directed by Christopher Nolan and will officially premiere on July 21st. In the film, Murphy plays the titular character Oppenheimer, the famous physicist known as the "father of the atomic bomb." Blunt plays his wife, Kitty, and Damon plays General Leslie Groves. The film also stars "Black Widow" actress Florence Pugh, who plays Jean Tatlock.
