The weight of fatherhood proved challenging for him, and he admitted that he did not know how to handle the immense responsibility, leading him to turn to drinking as a coping mechanism.

Things took a worse turn when the 11-time world titles champ began pursuing a music career and appeared on the red carpet of the Latin Grammys holding hands with Puerto Rican singer Mille Corretjer. This incident marked the end of their relationship. Speaking about the incident which ultimately ended their affair, Oscar said:

"When I did take her [Millie] to the Grammys, for some apparent reason, Shanna thought I was still with her."

The Former 'Pacific Blue' Regular Was Pressured To Feature In 'The Golden Boy: Oscar De La Hoya'

Before Shanna Moakler appeared in the candid documentary, she had explained her reasons for accepting the task. The Blast reported feeling pressured to participate in the documentary to convey her "side of the story." As she stated:

"I got involved as I was told it would be a no-holds-barred doc and felt I could openly tell my side of the story. I don't know how they plan to edit it. I have absolutely no relationship with Oscar de la Hoya now nor do I want one."

She clarified that even though Oscar had disappeared from their daughter's life during her childhood, she would not be speaking on that because his relationship with Atiana, now in her 20s, was between the father-daughter duo.

Instead, the "Due South" actress focuses on nurturing her bond with Atiana and her other two children, Landon and Alabama, whom she shares with Barker. "I am extremely close to all my children. Nothing will ever stop that, even if we have bumps in the road, as every family does with teenagers. I love them all unconditionally and will always be active, involved, and supportive in their lives," Shanna gushed.
