It took two years, but Tiffany Haddish is finally sharing her side of the story! The sensational actress recently ripped her ex-boyfriend's mutual breakup narrative to shreds in a tell-all interview.
During the pandemic, the "Girls Trip" star and Common were among the celebrities whose love blossomed in harrowing times. However, the pair did not survive a post-covid world as they ended their relationship in 2021.
At the time of their separation, the rapper-turned-actor took control of the story, stressing the pair had jointly accepted their end. However, it appeared the dissolution of their union was one-sided if the Primetime Emmy Award winner was to be believed.
Tiffany Haddish Claims Common Dumped Her Following A Series Of Concerning Behavior
The "Nobody's Fool" actress unleashed her signature unfiltered tongue to divulge what went down in the last months of her relationship with the Chicago heartthrob. The 43-year-old opened up about their separation to The Washington Post, sharing her perspective of what happened.
Starting sweetly, the comedian reflected on their past, remembering how the pair met. Like most Hollywood couples, the duo were connected on the set of "The Kitchen," an opportunity the Los Angeles native remained grateful for.
According to the "Night School" star, her affair with Common was "the healthiest, the funnest relationship I’ve ever had." Compared to her previous romances, "It’s where I felt safest out of all the relationships I’ve ever had," the entertainer raved.
Despite the joy she felt with the "Just Wright" actor, the musician slowly stopped considering Haddish a source of his happiness. The father of one allegedly began to withdraw, attending essential events without his usual plus one.
These ceremonies included a New York concert and Barack Obama's birthday party. If ditching her to go solo for such significant parties did not raise any red flags, the truth of Common's disinterest in her became glaring when the "I Used to Love H.E.R." artist did not invite his girlfriend to his birthday bash.
Following this series of concerning behavior, the 51-year-old finally pulled the plug on their relationship. However, the Chicago native was allegedly not brave enough to do it in person, as he broke Haddish's heart over the phone.
"It wasn’t mutual," the stand-up personality recounted. "It was more him saying, 'I think this relationship has run its course.' And I was like, 'Okay. Like you gonna be a 50-year-old single man. Okay?'"
Despite experiencing this painful parting, the Grammy Award recipient stressed she had not closed off her heart to love. The "Like a Boss" star continues to hope for Mr. Right, who would save her from the crushing weight of loneliness.
"I’m a pretty positive person, and I’m here to have an experience. I would love to have a partner to experience it with," Haddish confessed. "But also, I guess I’ve been alone for so long. And so used to being abandoned, I expect it. Which is sad, right?"
The 'Black Mitzvah' Creator Slammed Her Ex-boyfriend Over His Comments About Their Breakup
This is not the first time the comedian has refuted Common's narrative about their separation. During their 2021 separation, the "Here Today" actress claimed she was shocked by the entertainer's statements about their breakup.
During an appearance on “Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored with Jason Lee,” the 43-year-old expressed disappointment in the rapper. The father of one had appeared on the same podcast a month earlier, telling the host the former couple separated because of their busy schedules.
When asked if his words were the truth, Haddish disagreed. According to "The Last Black Unicorn" author, the "Silo" actor seemed to have a habit of breaking up with women. Referencing some of Common's famous affairs, the Los Angeles native said:
"He might be the type of person that never really settles with somebody. Maybe he’s like, you know, like a bee going from flower to flower to flower. I don’t know. I wish him nothing but joy and happiness, you know."
Despite the 51-year-old's contradictory comments about their relationship, the "Uncle Drew" actress confessed she sometimes pined for her ex-boyfriend. Nonetheless, the longing did not cloud her mind about their dissolved union.
"I miss him. I miss him from time to time, but that’s with, I think, any intimate relationship that you might have; you miss them. But I’m fine with it. It’s cool," Haddish admitted.
