Nine months after the release of "The Loneliest Time," Jepsen is ready to continue its story.

The "Call Me Maybe" songstress put some extreme thought into the concept for the record, which saw its title song go viral courtesy of a TikTok sound.

The intricate idea of understanding and accepting oneself will continue on Jepsen's latest, "The Loveliest Time," announced this month via the singer's Instagram. In the coming weeks, Jepsen has given her fans hints about the record in a collection of photos and released a new song to add to her ever-expanding collection of pop bops! She debuted "Shy Boy" during her recent performance at Glastonbury.

Jepsen Gets Cozy With The Concept Of Loneliness For 'The Loneliest Time'

Exploring the concept of loneliness did not start with the album's recording; Jepsen detailed her relationship with loneliness and how she incorporated it into her music.

Jepsen described the record as "a lifelong inquiry that I've had about my relationship to loneliness," she told The Cut (per The Blast) in October. She continued, "The idea that you have to be happy by yourself- like, 'Go be alone and be happy!'- b***s**t to me. You become pleased when you know you have connections out there."

However, knowing this hasn't stopped Jepsen from exploring her connection to herself.

"The Loveliest Time," which Jepsen describes as being a continuation of "The Loneliest Time" rather than her 'traditional' method of releasing B-side albums, continues celebrating the study of getting to know yourself and refusing to turn your back on those parts you'd rather hide from.

Knowing And Accepting Herself Is A Key Concept On 'The Loveliest Time'

As she continues with the concept of self-exploration in "The Loveliest Time," it seems as if Jepsen isn't afraid to hold space for all elements of her personhood.

Nearing the July 28th release of the record, Jepsen spoke to Rolling Stone and divulged all of the secrets behind "The Loveliest Time," including how she has continued to look at herself.

"The Loveliest Time is a bit more about ownership of [yourself]," the "Talking To Yourself" singer told writer Brittany Spanos. "I've discovered it. I know what's good, what's bad, what's ugly, and everything. You're taking those lessons, learning from them but going back into the wide world and being ready to face it," she explained.

"There are so many flowers in many of my images because I like the idea of planting yourself in this clean dirt, and beautiful growth can happen from this," Jepsen continued. "I want it to feel like growth and celebration. Those were the main concepts for me," she said.

Jepsen found it essential to incorporate the concept of being awake, aware, and alive amid the inevitable monotonous moments in life.

"It's funny because a lot of the songs are about the wild feeling that you will do anything to make yourself feel alive," the singer explains. "Opening with 'Anything to Be With You' shows a 'We will make it happen' feeling. It's a little movie-esque in that way. But I want my life to feel as wild as that. And many of the songs were written from a place where I still hadn't met anybody I was that excited about; it was the longing for that," Jepsen continued. "It's been a weird thing of life imitating art because I feel like I've written all these experiences that now in real life I'm getting to have, and it's odd to have it be written first and then kind of happen afterward," she said.
