Britney Spears Reveals Her 'Biggest Challenge' Writing Memoir 'The Woman In Me'

Singer Britney Spears is currently on vacation in Mexico with her husband, Sam Asghari, and her manager, Cade Hudson, less than a week after announcing the title, cover, and release date of her new memoir, "The Woman In Me," which hits bookshelves on October 24, 2023.

Although the 41-year-old pop star is having fun riding horseback on the beach for the first time and even sharing a video of her singing, she is also taking time to reflect on her upcoming memoir and the process that went into creating it.

On Saturday night, the "Hold Me Closer" singer shared an Instagram video that featured her looking at the pink rocks that she collected on the beaches of Mexico after she and her group got done horseback riding. She went through and named each rock, with her manager Cade Hudson referring to them all as "baby planets."

In the caption, Britney gushed about her trip to the beach and told her millions of Instagram followers that playing on the beach made her feel like a kid again. She wrote, "Salt heals all wounds !!! I was in the ocean for hours yesterday !!! It’s funny we are all told that adults need to grow up !!! The ocean always awakens my inner child and that’s the biggest challenge for me to keep as I wrote the book the woman in me !!!"

The pop star revealed that her "biggest challenge" when creating her memoir is that reflecting on her experiences made her realize how "bitter" the world can be. "The world can make you bitter hard and cold !!!" she wrote, before referring to Mexico as "magic" and saying that she played with several children at the beach. "I’ve played with so many kids on this trip !!! This place is magic on all levels !!!" she wrote.

Britney then told her followers that she had actually read the book herself,  which was reportedly written with the aid of ghostwriter Sam Lansky, who has previously written for Time, New York Magazine, and more. Lansky has also profiled Hollywood stars like Madonna and Adele.

"After reading the book, most would probably say she should be the meanest woman alive after what she’s been through and that’s just it !!! I should be !!!" Britney continued. "I’m sorry but after all of it although it’s thin as h*ll I’ve learned make peace with it and in each given moment I’m in even though things may be completely wrong I surrender to silliness !!!"

Although the pop star admits that she knows her life has not been easy, especially after she was subjected to a conservatorship from February 2008 to November 2021, she knows that she is "loved" by her fans. "I don’t want to be a self entitled person who takes myself too seriously !!! My life has not been easy but on the flip side I do know I’m loved !!!" she wrote.

She then went on to address the video, in which she says that there were nine planets. When Britney was in school, there probably were nine planets; however, Pluto has been declassified as a planet, and as such, there are only eight now.

"And as I sweetly share, there actually 8 planets not 9 !!! In conversation with you don’t let my childish tone confuse you for my truest blood character !!! Which 100 percent in 2 seconds if you piss me off I can become the meanest woman alive !!!!" she wrote.

However, Britney wanted to end her video on a happy note, writing, "Lol stay happy people life is too short !!! And it’s really ironic how the smallest planet went from pinky to MOTHER F*CKER !!!" The last statement is referring to the name Cade gave the last planet in the video, something that she plays back several times to make sure that her followers heard it.
