Kevin Costner has gotten more than he bargained for.

The multi-talented star's divorce proceedings have continued to take several turns, with the latest hurdle being an order to pay more than twice the amount he proposed for child support to his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner.

The former lovebirds have been at loggerheads since Baumgartner allegedly surprised the "Yellowstone" actor with divorce papers nearly three months ago, citing their separation date as April 11.

Kevin Costner Has Been Instructed To Pay Over $100k To Christine Baumgartner In Monthly Child Support

When Baumgartner refused to leave Costner's house after filing for divorce, the actor asked the court to implement a clause in their prenuptial agreement forcing her to move out — and won.

However, that is as far as the 68-year-old's victory in the proceedings has gone, as a tentative ruling on Tuesday, July 11, has approved his estranged wife's request to receive a lump sum in monthly child support.

According to court docs reviewed by Fox News, Judge Thomas Anderle made a short-term mandate that the Golden Globe Awards winner pay Baumgartner $129,755 monthly in child support. The "Let Him Go" actor is also expected to pay $100,000 in forensic costs and $200,000 in attorney's fees.

Additionally, the ex-couple, who both filed for joint custody of their three kids, must pay 50% towards their health care expenses, sports, and extracurricular activities. The docs then highlight that these payments will be made on the "first of each month" with "credit for sums paid between July 1 and July 12."

Baumgartner had originally solicited a monthly $248,000 in child support or "in the alternative, at the guideline rate of $217,300 per month, payable on the first day of each month." The 49-year-old also asked that her estranged partner cover 100% of the children's health care expenses, sports, extracurricular activities, and private school tuition.

In his rebuttal, Costner contested that the German-American designer's $248,000 child support request included over $100,000 attributed to Baumgartner's cosmetic surgery fees. The papers also emphasized large sums spent on boutique shopping, substantial credit card bills, attorney fees, and other costs irrelevant to child support.

The Blast shared that the "Dances with Wolves" star has been handling the kids' expenses and had no intention of stopping despite the ongoing drama. He further asserted that the current monthly payment of $51,940 was reasonable for child support.

As it stands, the two-time Screen Actors Guild winner raked in just over $19.5 million last year, with his family's expenses amounting to $6.6 million for the same period, and the family's estimated net worth is $7.5 million.

Last month, The Blast reported that Baumgatner's divorce filing rocked Costner's world because he planned to hit her with the papers first. One insider who claimed that the handbag designer had "blindsided" him with the move recalled:

"Kevin sat his family down, told them he and their mum were getting a divorce, and his lawyer was getting the paperwork drawn up. He wanted everything to be peaceful for the sake of his kids and told Christine he didn't want a messy divorce because he'd already been through one."

His plan obviously failed as the Cat Bag Couture creator did not waste any time "sneak attacking" and serving him "with her own set of divorce papers" less than 24 hours after the family talk. "Kevin was so shocked," the source declared before alleging that Baumgartner has been making "him look terrible and has continued to do so."

This exposition seems to align with what a longtime friend told media outlets about the actor being "stunned by Christine's actions" in May. The close pal had stated at the time:

"Kevin was very surprised by Christine's actions, he obviously doesn't want the divorce, and he would take her back. It's disappointing; he loves her and his children."

The news of the split was also shocking because none of their loved ones "knew about any issues" between Baumgartner and the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" performer. Sources even maintained that Costner often spent time at home with his family after his day on set.
