Victor Wembanyama Asked If He Will Apologize To Britney Spears Over Security Guard Slap

It seems that Victor Wembanyama is still not eager to apologize to Britney Spears over the incident with his security guard last Wednesday.
The NBA star was walking with the San Antonio Spurs security team to the Catch restaurant in the ARIA hotel in Las Vegas, where Britney was also dining. The pop star saw the 19-year-old athlete and went over to ask for a photo.
However, she was “backhanded” by security when she tapped him on the shoulder. Law enforcement officials aren’t pressing charges and Britney herself has said that she is still a “huge fan” of the French basketball player despite saying that she never received an apology from Victor, the security guard, or the organization representing the security team, in her initial statement.
After making a disappointing NBA debut on Friday, fans asked Victor if he planned to apologize to the pop star.
Victor Wembanyama Won’t Say If He Will Apologize To Britney Spears Over Security Guard Slap
On Saturday, Victor Wembanyama was surrounded by fans in Las Vegas for NBA Con. While he was on his way to the exit, he was surrounded by fans who were asking him questions. According to video footage obtained by TMZ, he is still using the same security team – perhaps even the same security guard – involved in the incident with Britney last Wednesday.
Fortunately, there were no similar incidents, even though fans seemed much more animated to get an autograph from the rising NBA star. Even though one fan asked if he plans to apologize to Britney, he did not answer. He just kept on walking. It is possible that he did not hear the question over the commotion, but his comments so far on the matter have been pretty telling.

Although the surveillance video shows that he was tapped on the shoulder, Victor Wembanyama claimed that he had been "grabbed" by the pop star in a video shared by KENS reporter Nate Ryan on Twitter.
"I saw the news obviously," he said in the video. "I woke up to a couple of phone calls. Something did happen a little bit when I was walking with some security of the team to some restaurant. We were in a hall and there were a lot of people so people were calling me obviously."
He said he remembered "one person" calling his name repeatedly, although his security team urged him not to stop. "That person grabbed me from behind," he continued. "I didn't see what happened because I was walking straight and they told me 'Don't stop.' But that person grabbed me from behind, grabbed on my shoulder. She grabbed me from behind so I just know that the security pushed her away."
"I don't know with how much force but security pushed her away. I didn't stop to look so I kept walking and enjoyed a nice dinner,” he added, mentioning that he “didn’t know” that it was actually Britney trying to get his attention “for a couple of hours.” When he first returned to the hotel room, he said that he thought that incident was "no big deal." It was only there that he claims that security informed him that it was really Britney.
“First I was like 'No, you're joking.' But yea it turns out it was Britney Spears," he said. "I didn't know because I didn't see her. I never saw her face. I just kept walking straight."
Britney Disputes Claim That She 'Grabbed' The NBA Star
In her first statement, the "Hold Me Closer" singer explained what happened from her perspective. “I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again,” she explained. “I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.”
“I am aware of the players [sic] statement where he mentions ‘I grabbed him from behind’ but I simply tapped him on the shoulder,” she wrote. “His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.”
Britney revealed she has yet to receive an apology, adding, “I have yet to get a public apology from the player, his security or their organization,” she wrote, adding, “I hope they will…”
She also called his response during the Twitter video "cruel." She added an additional paragraph to her initial statement when she posted in on Instagram, writing,“I also don’t appreciate nor do I think this is a laughing matter. Watching the player smile and laugh was cruel and demoralizing with the situation that took place,” she wrote. “I am 5’3 and he’s 7’4…”
