Rebel Wilson has denied ever saying that people require only "600 calories" to survive each day. The actress shared a screenshot of The Mirror's article on the claims on her Instagram story and wrote, per Page Six, "This reporting is UNTRUE and utterly ridiculous and harmful to women!"

A report had previously circulated that Wilson said there's a misconception about how many calories people actually need to survive.

During the launch party for her new dating app, Fluid, she told the Daily Mail, "I was just actually in a program where I learned about food, and they taught us that you don't really need as many calories as you think."

In her conversation with Daily Mail, Wilson explained that she was recently on a retreat at the Vivamayr medical spa in Austria. The "Pitch Perfect" star shared that she learned that people "only need about 600 calories a day" instead of the "1,500 or 2,000" requirement.

Wilson said that the 600-calorie requirement "might sound crazy" but that the human body doesn't need high calories. She added, "Everyone thinks you need to eat so much, but if you eat right and eat small portions, you'll be just fine."

However, Wilson noted that she wasn't sharing the advice for use as a daily routine, and it was only for detox purposes. The actress concluded by saying, "The problem is that people are stuck at a desk or in their car, and they tend to get hungry. They want to eat because that's how they deal with stress or it's a habit."

Over the past few years, Wilson has been open about losing over 70 pounds and changing her life. However, she revealed that she's gained weight back after the birth of her daughter, Royce, through a surrogate last year. Wilson explained that her "lack of sleep" and lifestyle changes had been a contributing factor.

She said, "Now I can't go to the gym as often as I used to; I'm just not working out as much, so that has slowed me down." The "Senior Year" star shared that she started her weight loss journey to improve her fertility, as her doctor advised.

Wilson added, "That's kind of what started it, that if I lost some excess weight, it would give me a better chance for freezing eggs and having the eggs be better quality. It wasn't even really myself, it was more thinking of a future mini-me, really."

They like the message."
