Ted Kaczynski’s Brother Turned Him In
When the manifesto hit the paper, Kaczynski’s brother, David, and his sister-in-law Linda Patrick knew who wrote it immediately. They recognized phrases from the note and turned him in to the authorities.
He was officially arrested in 1996 when police swarmed his cabin deep in the woods of Lincoln, Mont. He was slapped with a litany of charges to which he eventually pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to life without parole, allowing him to avoid the death penalty.
