'And Just Like That' Staff SHOCKED By Kim Cattrall's Secret Return!

Ring a ding, ding… Samantha Jones is back in the building.
That’s right, Kim Cattrall is officially reprising her role as the sex-crazed PR guru, "Jones," in season two of “And Just Like That.”
This news might come as an absolute shock and delight to “Sex And The City” fans.

Cattrall has had a tumultuous relationship with her main co-stars in the show, and their differing opinions led Cattrall to leave the franchise for good.
Or so we thought.
The New York Post reported on Thursday, May 31, that the 66-year-old actress secretly returned to her ‘SATC’ roots in the upcoming season of “And Just Like That.”
Per the outlet’s report, she filmed a “cliffhanger” scene for the new season, and the cameo was extremely “hush hush.”
It was such a well-kept secret that many show staffers and behind the scenes workers had zero clue she was going to be filming or was even on set. Cattrall’s name did not appear on any call sheets, which means there was no paper trail to spoil the surprise.

One inside source revealed to The Post how staffers reacted to learning the news of return.
They were “definitely shocked, very intrigued on how they’re going to write this in, and very excited.”
As previously mentioned, this move on Cattrall’s part comes as a complete shock, especially given her ugly past with Sarah Jessica Parker and ‘AJLT’ show-runner, Michael Patrick King.
“She said she’d never do it! She said she’d never come back!” the source exclaimed.
Details about Cattrall’s cameo are slim to none, but here’s what we do know.
Her scene was filmed in March in a town car in a parking garage. Cattrall arrived to set in a blacked out SUV to keep wandering eyes from seeing her.
Season two of “AJLT” hits MAX [previously HBO Max] on June 22.
Following the release of season one, many fans of the ‘SATC’ franchise were livid about the lack of Samantha’s presence, and many expressed their dislike for the series on social media.
Last February, King explained that Cattrall was essentially blacklisted from ever returning to the franchise.
Michael Patrick King Said Cattrall Would Never Participate In 'AJLT'
In a 2022 interview with Variety, King explained why fans will never see Samantha in the show.
When asked if he would keep the door open to Cattrall, he replied, “No. Just like there was no thought that Kim would ever participate in And Just Like That, because she’s said what she had said.”
King went on to say that he is firm in his stance that fans should not expect to ever see Cattrall on the show.
“The only place I participate in magical thinking is in fiction,” he said. “You take people at their word, and you’re a smart producer — you don’t back yourself into a corner. Magically thinking, it’s great to have Samantha. I have no realistic expectation of Kim Cattrall ever appearing again.”
Since the original show ended in 2004, rumblings began to circulate that the relationship between Cattrall and her cast mates was very volatile.
Cattrall & Her Co-Stars Didn't See Eye-To-Eye!
In 2017, the actress did a sit-down interview with British anchor, Piers Morgan. She made some very poignant comments about SJP, the show, and her future as Samantha.
When news of a ‘SATC 3’ movie began to make media headlines, it was revealed that it wasn’t getting made due to Cattrall’s “demands” which halted the film.
However, Cattrall told a very different story to Piers.
She revealed she had been saying ‘NO’ to a third film for over a year before SJP went public with her version of the story, which painted a horrible picture of Cattrall.
“Nobody ever picks up the phone and tries to contact you and say, ‘How you doing?’ That would have been the way to handle it,” Cattrall shared, suggesting SJP is not the only co-star to blame for the rift. “This is, it feels like, a toxic relationship.”
Cattrall also went on to say, “I think she [Sarah Jessica] could’ve been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is.”
In December 2016, Cattrall said, “Thank you, but no,” to a third ‘SATC’ movie.
So, Cattrall has known for a long time that she would never reprise her role as Samantha Jones, at least not with the OG cast.
