The suspect in Takeoff's murder has officially been indicted as the rapper's killer. This is a highly-anticipated closure for Cardi B and the deceased's loved ones.
The late member of the Migos hip-hop trio, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, was tragically gunned down in November 2022—the 28-year-old left behind his uncle Quavo, fellow bandmate Offset, and millions of grief-stricken fans.
Thanks to her relationship with the "North Star" musician, the mother-of-two had a close relationship with the Lawrenceville native before his demise. Following news of the murderer's arraignment, the female rapper shared a poignant post.
Cardi B Pays Tribute To Takeoff After His Alleged Killer Receives A Formal Charge For The Crime
In her latest Instagram Story update, the 30-year-old songstress honored the late "HOTEL LOBBY" artist with an emotional message. The New Yorker shared a picture of the deceased in his element, standing out amid a group of men.
Takeoff donned a blue top with a matching blue baseball cap, glamming up his casual ensemble with diamonds. The 28-year-old accessorized with a large pendant attached to a diamond necklace, matching bedazzled rings, a bracelet, and a wristwatch.
The late "Casper" rapper had a partly-smoked joint between his fingers while holding on to a white lighter. The former Unc & Phew star appeared unaware of the camera as he was captured looking elsewhere with his lips shaped into a pout.
"What an angel God bless this earth with," Cardi began her caption. "Protect your brothers and your family. I know you see the tears. I know you see them looking at the sky, asking why...What a beautiful soul to take."
As mentioned above, the "Bodak Yellow" singer's tribute to Takeoff came at the heels of a breakthrough in the entertainer's murder case. Per reports, the suspected killer, arrested late last year, was recently charged with the rapper's death.
Patrick Xavier Clark was indicted on a murder charge by a grand jury in Texas on Thursday, May 25. The individual allegedly shot the Migos member outside a bowling alley in downtown Houston.
According to authorities, an altercation had occurred outside the building leading to the shots. However, Takeoff was not involved in the dispute, but the rapper ended up as an unfortunate victim who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The deceased had attended a private party with his uncle Quavo when the duo was caught in the crossfire. Unlike his relative, who escaped the aftermath, the Lawrenceville native reportedly died from two gunshot wounds — one to the head and another to his torso.
A month after the shooting, the suspect was taken into custody by the Harris Police Department Gang Division during a traffic stop. Authorities discovered that Clark had a significant amount of cash, a passport, and a gun at the time of his arrest.
Court documents revealed the alleged killer tried to flee the country to Mexico as he had applied for an expedited passport shortly after Takeoff's death. Once behind bars, the presumed murderer was slapped with a bond of $2 million before a judge lowered it to $1 million following a plea from Clark's defense attorneys.
The suspect regained his freedom on January 14 after paying the bond fee; however, his time under the sun ended after authorities arrested him to face his indictment for the rapper's murder.
Cardi B Revealed Her Husband Was An Emotional Mess After Takeoff's Tragic Demise
Months before the "Narcos" musician's alleged killer was charged with his death, Cardi opened up about how her spouse, Offset, was affected by the 28-year-old's passing. During an appearance on the "Hollywood Unlocked" podcast, the Grammy winner told listeners about the moment the couple learned of Takeoff's demise.
"We were in bed. We just fell asleep, and out of nowhere, Offset's phone kept ringing, my phone kept ringing," the mother-of-two recalled the heartbreaking moment. "Offset picked up the phone, and he's just like, 'No!' And he screaming and screaming. And I'm like, 'What's going on?'"
Although the "Tats On My Face" told his wife that Takeoff was gone, the news did not immediately hit the 6-time AMA winner as she was more concerned about her beau's hysterical state. Cardi confessed that she was forced to "smack" the frantic rapper, yelling at him: "Don't say that!"
However, the story only got emotionally worse from there. According to the "I Like It" singer, the agonizing news left Offset physically ill. "He's just like screaming, throwing things, throwing up, running all over. I was just so scared. I was crying so much. It was terrible," the 30-year-old admitted.
