Actor Mark Hamill will be the first one to admit that he had a "tumultuous relationship" with his "Star Wars" costar Carrie Fisher, but that didn't mean the two didn't share a sibling-like relationship both on and off-screen.

The established voice actor recently spoke at Fisher’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, along with her daughter, actress Billie Lourd. The 71-year-old actor also opened up more about their relationship in a new interview with Esquire.

In a new interview with Esquire, the actor admitted that they had a "tumultuous relationship" in real life, explaining, "We could be as loving and supportive as possible, then we could have big arguments and say, 'Well, I never want to speak to you again,' and not speak for six months."

"But every time you came back, you picked up right where you left off," he added, noting, "We had a connection that is special." That being said, he also had things to say about her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

He told the publication that the event "trivializes the reality to try and put [Carrie] into words." However, he went on to admit, "But what else can you do? I didn't want it to be sad, because I knew she wouldn't want people to be sad."

"It would've been so perfect had she been there. Not only to see how much people loved her, but because she would've made everything much funnier," Hamill lamented, reminding fans that Carrie "lived to make others laugh. And it was always a point of satisfaction for me to be able to make her laugh."

Unfortunately, there was still a lot of drama surrounding the event, as Carrie Fisher's brother, Todd Fisher, and Carrie's two sisters – Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher – were not invited to the event by Carrie's daughter, Billie Lourd.

Todd Fisher spoke to several outlets about the perceived "snub" and admitted that the two have been estranged for years.

“We had no explanation for the blackout, which is kind of not good,” he said. “But we respected the fact that we were being told that she was really struggling with the loss of her mother. That’s what was being told.”

“And so, therefore, I respected that was her feelings. We now know that it really isn’t about it,” he continued. “It might be entangled in this notion that somehow somebody is exploiting the death of her mother in some fashion.”

Meanwhile, Billie shared her own statement with The Hollywood Reporter. "I apologize to anyone reading this for feeling the need to defend myself publicly from these family members," she wrote. "But unfortunately, because they publicly attacked me, I have to publicly respond. The truth is I did not invite them to this ceremony. They know why.”

“Days after my mom died, her brother and her sister chose to process their grief publicly and capitalize on my mother’s death, by doing multiple interviews and selling individual books for a lot of money, with my mom and my grandmother’s deaths as the subject,” she explained. “I found out they had done this through the press.”

“To be clear — there is no feud. We have no relationship. This was a conscious decision on my part to break a cycle with a way of life I want no part of for myself or my children,” she noted. The “Booksmart” actress has been married to actor Austen Rydell since 2022 and has two children.

“The people who knew and loved my mom at Disney and Lucasfilm have made this star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to honor her legacy possible,” she added. “This moment is about Carrie Fisher and all that she accomplished and what she meant to the world. I’m going to focus on that. May the 4th be with you.”
