Matt Roloff Suffered 'Some Unexpected Twists & Turns' During A 'Routine' Surgery

Matt updated his fans on the latest health challenge facing the Roloffs through a social media post with a picture of him lying in a hospital bed. Although he was all smiles in the image, the 61-year-old revealed to his nearly 800k Instagram followers that "Last week was rough" for him. Explaining what he meant, he wrote:

He noted that even though he ultimately "didn't need the computer chip and monitor installed," there was even "more work to be done." The Roloff patriarch added that his hospitalization resulted in him taking time off work and laying low.

Luckily, he returned to "action" on Monday, May 22, when he shared the news with his fans. Matt then responded to fans who dropped their supportive comments for him below.

Replying to one person who asked, "Did they do damage by not knowing about the twists and turns, or did they find something concerning when they did it?" he stated, "Yeah. I was still under when things went wild. But the waiting room update scared Caryn pretty good."

He responded, "Thank you!" to a second fan that wished him a speedy recovery, and told a third that it was "definitely in the plans" to go to Arizona to "heal up." Amid the influx of support, one fan, which saw Matt's ill health as an opportunity for bigger things, commented:

"Thoughts to your kids, always stressful when your parent has complications like this. Hopefully, this will help mend some bridges and extend some olive branches."

While we wait to see if the TLC star will mend those bridges with his estranged twin sons, Zach and Jeremy, it is worth noting that he recently got engaged to Chandler, his longtime love. The National Speakers Association member shared the fantastic news, stating:

"After six wonderful years together, I asked Caryn to marry me, and she said yes! We plan to enjoy our engagement and look forward to a simple but elegant wedding in 2024." However, The Blast noted that the response was divided when TLC posted a photo of the happily-engaged couple showing off the engagement bling on Instagram.

While many celebrated Matt for finding love again nearly seven years after the finalization of his divorce from his first wife, Amy, others believed that his soon-to-be-wife was only with him for money and reality TV fame.

As mentioned above, Zach had suffered a few hiccups regarding his health, resulting in emergency surgery in February. To break the news, his wife, Tori, uploaded three snaps that showcased her man looking frail on a hospital bed, with bandages on his head, on Instagram. Taking to the caption, she began:

"Not exactly how we saw our week going…Zachary had [an] emergency shunt revision this morning. It's been a scary 72 hours but he is doing well and recovering!!"

The mom-of-three expressed her gratitude "to everyone for the prayers" before continuing, "We are so incredibly blessed by our neurosurgeon team and their attentiveness to Zach's needs! Thank you to our friends and family who have all asked for help. We feel so loved and supported by you."

After explaining that she was still praying for her husband to have a quick and easy and that the surgery would be their "answered prayers to relieving his migraines," Tori praised her beau:

"You're a freaking bad a**, Zach. You just had brain surgery... and handled it like a rockstar. I'm so proud of you."

She wrapped up with a passage — Jeremiah 17:14 — and the hashtag, "storyofzachandtori."
